Any Space combat sims fans around recommend the X series?

I highly recommend it, very good once you get past the learning curve.

I have to say i never got into the X series, just not enough story...

But if you love Freespace i surely think you will love Freelancer, just a little less story but way more exploring and you can play it coop ^^. Its playable with mouse and keyboard, i think Joystick too.

And if you like star wars maybe ALL star wars space sim titles, especially Tie Fighter, X-wing, Xwing vs Tie Fighter AND X-wing Alliance

I'm verry interested in X3 but I'm not sure which one to get. Could I just jump in with TC? does it still hold up to this day in terms of visuals and the UI? I want to be a feared pirate who pillages trader ships.
