How many pieces of a Jidigi puzzle do you consider acceptable?
in terms of SG puzzles, 70-150
the small ones you finish to fast, any larger and they start to take to long for an unknown reward... and people are more likely to start using cheats to do them(or at least... this is where the finish times start to really be noticeable for the cheaters)

with the pixel puzzle steam games i found by chance cause i tend to make piles of things of the same kind if you pile every single puzzle piece on top of each other and grab one from the pile it will be the top left most free piece in the top row until that row it complete and now the 2nd row

I never even thought that, you probably found a design flaw in how the game decides on what piece you're picking when they're overlapping, instead of a random one it maybe choses the one with the lower index number or something like that. Sounds like the kind of bug the developer would likely be interested in patching, at least for the games that are still under active development, this one time when me and some other players complained about a broken puzzle that wouldn't trigger the related achievement and also gave infinite golden pieces the dev patched it after a few days.

Sadly yes.
It give, at least, 3 different ways to cheat the jigidis :o(
That's the reason why the big events aren't made anymore and only sometimes someone do one that is in the most cases not so big.
Because in the end the cheaters have with each higher puzzle pieces amount a bigger advantage.
So best are small puzzles that don't punish the users that don't cheat.
The last user that i caught doing it, in a GA of a sg mod (you see with this that they really not fear to be detected), were so dumb to use a second account for it, left traces behind to a perma suspended other account of him with a similar name to his other accounts. After a lot of work i found the level 8 main sg account behind it and this one + the other 3 that he used got perma suspended. But that don't happen often, the most ones get never caught.

I don’t like digital puzzles. I will suffer through them if the creator says what the giveaway is. But otherwise I don’t bother with puzzles of more than 20 or so pieces.

Hey! Dobke!
I didn't recognize you at first because your profile picture changed! You look really tired. Are you okay?
By the way, getting to the point—I absolutely love jigsaw puzzles!
So I don't mind how many pieces there are!
(Just checked—my record is 589 pieces, which took me 4 hours and 50 minutes!)
What matters to me is whether the image used is fun or beautiful.
Puzzles with dark or creepy pictures just aren't enjoyable to work on.
Whatever choice you make, I'll give my all to enjoy your event!
Rereading what I just wrote, I feel like it doesn't really answer your question.
Hmm. I think around 100 to 200 feels satisfying and enjoyable.
On the other hand, around 30 feels more like “work to get the game.”

I'm doing pretty good. No need to worry.
This picture is from a character I really liked from Dispatch, started playing that game and I absolutely love it. It's soo good and Phenomaman is a hilariously written character.
I've read a bunch of comments here, every single one. And even if the poll says that around 60 pieces is good enough. Many people pointed out that time is limited, and subjecting someone to solving a puzzle that can take more than 10 minutes of their day only to get a 0.1% chance most of the time can be a chore.
So I settled to make them as simple as possible, just enough to keep botters away. Hope you take part in them too.

I'm so glad you're doing well!
I didn't realize your profile picture was a Dispatch character.
I find Dispatch to be such an appealing game and have been meaning to play it myself someday, so I avoided looking into it too much to avoid spoilers.
I saw your new posts! They were all filled with the kind of captivating games everyone wants! Of course, I joined in too!
Thank you so much, as always!

More chance for the people who want to spend more than 10 minutes of their time to a puzzle ^^
(I'm quite sure an average forum GA doesn't get a 1000 entries to have 0.1% chance of winning, just keep that in mind. And it's already vastly better chance than just doing a public giveaway)

While I like jigsaw, I hate the way they're implemented digitally. I get that they want to simulate sorting and grouping, but the process of separating piled up puzzle pieces one by one is the opposite of fun. I would have a different answer if they were lined up around without overlap or had their own sorting area so I don't have to drag the puzzle base around, but for Jidigi specifically, it's "as few as possible." The game would have to be very high on my wishlist for me to take up an 80+ image, and even then, I draw the line at 150.

I did a few 70 pieces prior to making this post. I wanted to get a feel of what I was putting people through before I make myself an event.
Honestly, took me 17 minutes, I'm kinda slow, and I agree with what you said sorting through them virtually on a screen is not enjoyable at all.
In the end, despite what the poll says I found that it's better I settle for making them as simple as possible, just to keep the botters away, hopefully.

I'm probably alot different than most opinions here, as I do about 90% of SG on my phone, for me personally there's a "comfort" limit to doing jigidis after which I have to consider other factors. 60-70 is my sweet spot probably, happy to go to 100 thereabouts if the event is worth it or the artwork is nice (happens more often than you think, sometimes I happily do jigidis for games I already have if the artwork is nice). With the slightly bigger phone I have now I suppose it's higher but once it goes over 120-150 I have to take a step back and weigh for me personally whether it's worth it. Have rarely done a few 200+ piece ones but only for giveaways or events I'm rather keen on. Once I did a jigidi for almost 300 pieces (good giveaway and great art) but I also said never again, no matter what the event. Being able to keep my progress saved in the jigidi site has been a lifesaver truly.

100 or less for random games, up to 200ish for high quality

What you consider acceptable, i prefer to know the name of the games gifted before attempting to solve but including that it's the gifter's preference.

I'd say around 60 to 80 is what I will usually do without having to think too much about it, but for anything above 100 I need to be in the mood for it. And I also really dislike those ones that are mostly a solid color, for those it's too hard to know where to start after doing the border.

I like solving puzzles but more than 20/30 pieces makes it boring. I think puzzles should be fun and short not a torture.

The length doesn't matter to me, but I do like to know what it is I'm trying to win beforehand. I'd also say the the larger the puzzle is, the more busy the image needs to be to keep it interesting. Don't want to have to resort using trial and error putting together several pieces that are all only of a single colour for instance.
I find these relaxing, so they're still my favourite puzzle type around here. If you create an account with Jigidi you can also do them at your own pace as well.

i have created over 100 jigidi puzzles here on sg. Like many things in life, you cannot make everyone happy. Some people don't like jigidis so 0 or lowest amount is the right amount for them, others love doing jigidis and are cool with 150-250 pieces and others "work" through 150+ pieces, because they like the better odds to win a giveaway.
So i advice you to think about what the jigidi is for and what amount of time you consider fair for it. For example imho:
-just bot check: lowest possible (9-12 pieces) - estimated puzzle time 10-30 seconds
-part of an multiple puzzles event: not more than 50 pieces, so even haters can make it through - estimated puzzle time 3-10 minutes
-pure jigidi event, so you solve the jigidi and directly reach the giveaway(s) - 100-250 depending on prize and giveaway duration - - estimated puzzle time last two years i had a jigidi advent event, one jigidi every day and giveway duration 1 week. Here is the the event's puzzle archive. The best times multiplied by 3 is usually the average person. Should give you a feeling about the needed time.

Thanks, I think yours and Gus' comments were the definitive ones for me. Despite what the poll says, I settled for the smallest possible, just to keep the botters away, while also not giving away the full link, for example cOd3/game for the link. People get it, they're smart ;).
I was almost going for what the poll settled: 50-60 pieces. But I thought long and hard about it. And I know how connected everyone here is. What would be the point when someone can solve the puzzle and share the link on a discord server or somewhere and their friends can just skip the puzzle and join right away? Some people ask to comment "solved" but honestly, just a small simple Jigidi with goofy images for the user to look at when they're done was the better idea for me.
Thanks!

I only do the better "bot checks" DrTenma mentioned. Anything beyond that and I'd rather play a video game than use that time for a limited chance to win some other video game. It doesn't matter how great the giveaway behind that jigidi might be.

You're right, that's what I ended up settling for. Never had any intention to make receiving my gifts bothersome or a chore. That's why I wanted to ask here, and although the poll says most people are fine with 60 pieces, I saw a lot of comments of people saying they don't like them.
A chose to stick with simplicity. People liked it. It worked out great :)
Thanks Gus

I probably wouldn't bother with anything that has more than 60-100. At that point, the time can be used playing games I already have over a metagame for a 0.1% chance at increasing my backlog further.
And if I don't even know what's behind it, I very likely wouldn't even try anything above like 20 pieces.

I don't really see the point in 40-60 but 100-150 sounds ok for a GA puzzle. It won't take forever and it's enough of a "puzzle" to count as one
Anything under 100 is basically just bot-protection and might as well do SG tools check instead.
But yes as others have said, it also depends on the game being given away. If it's unbundled or recent, 150 is something most people will do. If it's bundled and has been given away a lot, you shouldn't expect more than a handful of people bothering with anything over 100

Small poll here as I cook up some puzzle/event giveaways I am planning to make this holiday season, just want to know what people around here think about Jidigi Puzzles and pieces count.
