So I'm currently on the market to buy a new gaming laptop, I am willing to spend about 2000-2500 Canadian (hopefully on the lower end of that cause Canadian taxes are going to be the death of me). Yes I'm aware I could build myself a decent desktop but I travel far to much for this to be a feasible option. I currently have an MSI right now and apart from a few problems that was covered under warranty I do like the brand but I am open to finding a better brand. I can also wait to see what Nvidia as in store because the last time I purchased a laptop Nvidia came out with it's new graphics cards the following week. So suggestions would be nice.

I worked with 3 different HPs and sth always broke just after warranty period ended. Once it was graphics card, service wanted to much for repair, it was sold for parts. The other time it was both charging unit and some problems with SATA - it couldn't recognize hard disk anymore. The last one still works but it have some weird electrical kind issue - it sometimes powers on by itself :) so power adapter have to be unplugged when laptop is turned off.
I didn't have such experience with either Dell or Samsung, can't say much about other companies.

But maybe it's just my luck with HP :)

I hope you know that unless the plane/train has a socket, you won't get much gaming from any of he recommendations? Laptops that can run games decently either kill the battery doing so in 60-120 minutes or weigh over 4-5 kg to have a battery large enough to last 3 hours.

When I say I travel a lot I mean that I move from one place to another place every couple of months, I don't game on my laptop while on a plane, I meant that it's not feasible for me to lug a desktop with me as I travel. I need portability.

Ah. In that case just get anything with a good port configuration and maybe get a monitor with a good box to lug around too. Some ASUS monitos have boxes with a handle, and it is always nice to have a second monitor. (And one that has a size larger than your palms put together). :)
As for the laptop itself, the ASUS Rog already mentioned here has good configurations and prices, although like most laptops, it is often short on storage space (external HDD recommended).

Maybe the HP Z-book would be a good suggestion? Quite a strong one, meant for high-end pc use.

If you can wait few months, wait because new generations of CPU and GPUs will be soon in laptops *Current gen GPU is in on 28nm node next gen will be on 14/16nm and will be around 2x times more powerful to curent gen

I didn't know that, I was wondering when the next gen would be out. I don't mind waiting a few months it means (I can save up more), do you have any idea when that is?

When I was looking for laptop I was checking stuff up to 600€, so your budget is totally out of my range of interest. But there is site where you can look for reviews, mobile CPUs and GPUs performance tests etc => link.

It can be useful to compare 2 models of laptops or check differences between CPUs or GPUs.
