Finished Mass Effect. I've decided to take a break before I start Mass Effect 2. It turns out shooters aren't my favorite type of game.

I think I want to play a fantasy RPG, but I might not. One thing to note: If a game has a story, I almost always play them in order.

I've got Divine Divinity, Risen, The Witcher, and Assassin's Creed. I'm not horribly fond of exploration or side quests (unless they advance the story in some way). What do you think?

(I really wish I had Dragon Age: Inquisition right now. I caught up and now I'm stuck waiting.)

I hear you can't go wrong with Assassin's Creed. Not my favorite gameplay style, but the story is supposed to be awesome.

Personally, I loved AC (if we're talking about the first one).
The OP isn't "horribly fond of exploration", though, so not sure they would enjoy the game as much as I did.

It does have a pretty neat storyline, though, so if you already own it, you definitelly should play it, rayden54. It's very worth your time :)

Never played the witcher (yet), but Assassin's Creed is good.

Side quests are not mandatory, so you can just stick to the main quest line! In Assassins Creed you could easily avoid Side quests.
I would say The Witcher! The Witcher 3 is soon and does tie in with the previous games.

Witcher 2 is pretty much unplayable for me but my friend really enjoys it so...give it a try

Well all of the games you mentioned require exploration since they are all focused on story.By not doing side quests you miss out of the richly world of the games. But since you don't like a lot of running around try something with more linear story(only thing i can think of metro and crysis) some FPS maybe.Or you should try different genre.

From my experience all you miss out on by skipping the side quests is XP, gear, and gold. I have yet to find a game where the side quests are in ANY WAY compelling. Most of them are just running all over the map for no real reason in the middle of a crisis.

True but some side quest offer mini stories that add to the world that you are exploring.I usually try to finish all the side quest before progresing with the main ones.True i sometimes lose the feeling like you said in the middle of crisis but in the end i find side quests rewarding.Whether it its just and obj like weapon, armor inc or just dialog its just plus at least for me :)

And i suggest you that you should try something different.Playing RPG's one after another can sometimes become boring and you could get sick of that particular genre.I like strategy so i usually shift between sandbox and story.

Problem is, there really isn't another genre that I like.
