a lot in my friend list but most i have on there for giveaways or for trades. i only really actually know 4 people on my friendlist and only play with 2 of them :P 63 total tho but I could probably remove at least 50 of them.

I have 20 friends on steam, but only actually really know 3.

40-60 is enough for me. Some of them are real friends with others whose i met online. Random people sometimes adding me to just add to play games or discuss something but i often find myself deleting them from friendlist.

158, I probably should clear some out I haven't played or talked with in a while as I only really interact with maybe 20 if I'm being generous... though my list could support 450 if needed.

My real life friends don't play at all or are console gamers (mostly NDS and Wii). =)

My friendlist is quite small on Steam and from that small pool I only know one IRL. On Steam I only play single player games (except for a few) and I think Steam is more of a gaming platform than "some place to socialize". In the past (around 2006) I was pretty active on Xfire, I made some valuable friends, but I slowly moved away from MMOs and playing multiplayer FPS games. The younger me would probably be quite active in interacting on Steam. However nowadays I keep in touch with most of my IRL friends on Skype (usually they are not related to gaming at all) and I have my gaming friends on Discord (whom I play with regularly non-Steam games).

I'm a 30yr old dad and most of my friends, who are also dads, don't play at all. If they do, they definitely don't have steam.

591 friends. Vast majority of them acquired by posting "feel free to add me" on one Forum's steam sale thread years ago and adding people posting the same.
1 guy I went to school with and haven't seen him in 10 years. We don't really talk.

I think the amount of people I talk to regularly (and by talk I mean type) is in single digits, and off Steam.

I met some of my best friends on SG, so by extension Steam.

jees - I'm just under 400 - though I talk to about 100 or so of them at least monthly... and the rest from time to time... and some almost never... but they still have a purpose... but I should go look at that list and see if it's time to remove a couple... Or I suppose I could just reorganize and categorize them again to make my life easier...

more friends means I can find more keys homes easily when I don't feel like making a GA, conversely it still means more clutter :/

More than 250 friends, talking to 3. I had some cool chat buddies few years ago but none of them seem to be interested in me anymore so I'm done being always the one who is hitting up old steam friends and starting conversations.

I've got about 60 people on my friend list, about half of them are people I trade(d) with and never removed. Of my real friends the RL ones I generally talk to by other means.

83 friends, mostly from SG 0 IRL friends (i have some people that i know before steam/sg , met some of them too IRL but they are not on my daily contact, sadly)

I emptied my friend list a little while ago. I don't think I'd talked to any of them more than once, and some of them not even that. No point keeping a list of people I never interact with.

The rest are people I used to play competitively with and some from here, not much of chatter have been seen in this section.

Quite a lot. They are either from other sites or winners of my giveaways from here, I can't remember the last time I talked to anyone. I'd like to make friends to talk with but I'm really bad at starting conversations so I doubt it'll ever happen... Also there's the fact that I barely ever turn my status to online when Steam client is open because I don't want to keep getting the "[User] started playing [game]!" messages.

I don't consider myself a friend collector because I don't go out sending random invites, I just don't delete people who I've added/have added me. I guess it makes it more hopeful that maybe one day I'd actually be able to talk to someone, haha. If Steam had a way to hide Friends list from other users then I'd do that in a heartbeat.

Well I have 73 steam friends but it would be not problem for me to unfriend most of them . I guess there are 3 ppl I'd like to keep in touch but they are not from real life. We used to play DI:E, but this game don't exist anymore so we comment screenshots sometimes...

304 friends now in my list, 3 or 4 of them I know from real life, usually chat with 4 or 5, the rest are friends of same groups/forums and people with which I have traded or played in the past.

Friends? No. It's just some users with whom it happens to interact several times. Most of them were added automatically due to sending steam gifts on email when they won my GAs or I won theirs.

I think it's so nice that you're responding to every person who replied to your original post. It's pretty hard to do, and can get exhausting! And makes it feel like you care about what people are saying.

Too many (570). Most of them are either from Steamgifts or from trading.

There's only a handful of them I actually know IRL.
