Here is the GA for the collector

There could be a discrepancy between real age and really real age.

It's 2018 and everyone gets their identity stolen and almost every website and every product you buy farms as much info as they can from you to sell. I really hope people would know better than to give out any info about themselves anywhere online unless they absolutely need to for some reason.

I'm just lazy and scroll the year until it accepts it. :D

I do the same. I click up once off of the bar so it goes a full page and then pick a random year towards the top. I bet a large percent of the people that view the Steam site are born on Jan 1st :)

Steam doesn't store the birthday you enter on the server, only in cookies in your browser, but your points still stand.

The sad thing is that some people in the comments don't seem to understand that the statement by Newell was a joke/sarcasm. Although, it would be hilarious if Valve really spent years of time and lots of money on answering the question why 93 % of the users have birthday on January 1st and that this would be the single reason they never found the time to develop HL3. People killed it by using fake birthdays :P

It wasn't even by Newell, it was an article from "TheNobleEskimo.com" a "news"site that doesn't exist anymore for a long time now.
But yeah was(or is) amusing/sad how many people believe every fake story or conspiracy theory out there but won't believe in stories that are actually true (or at least nearer to the truth than things like these...)

lol, I always click once to go up a page and then pick a random year. I never realized that the top year is good enough. All these years I've been wasting a click :)

I'm still stuck with old thinking, so when a website wants to verity I am over 18 and I wanna insert a fake date, I use at least 1984, which was the year I used when I was not 18 yet to get around age-gates. I'm almost 30 now ;_;

For browsers there is an extension called Enhanced Steam, and that is one of the functions.
For the Steam app/program/thingy whatever it's called, there is not, so that sucks.

I entered my real birthday the first time, but ever since it forgot for the first time I just input January 1st and roll the scrollwheel for a suitably old birth year.

What I don't get is why Steam keeps asking to verify age for owned games. Sometimes you want to go to the store page to remind yourself quickly whether there's cloud saves or whatever, and it's so dumb to keep getting age verification for games you already own.
