sorry to hear about that. i hate funerals myself. i see no point in that. and no, you don't have to go. that's up to you. everyone grieves in his/her own way. just make sure you remember her well.

I want to go for the ceremony, but I fear the condolences from friends and family afterwards. I could retreat for that, but I want to support my mother, especially cause my brother is out of the country.

My condolences. My grandmother passed away a couple of years ago, so I know how hard this feels.
