Is gifting a gift copy allowed?
Ask the owner (:
Sometimes the user that makes the giveaway is not aware that it dropped an extra gift of the game, and it's always correct to tell them and ask if they want it back. You might be lucky with your honesty, maybe they'll let you keep it ^^
It is not against any rules to giveaway a giftable copy that appeared from a game you won, but if you happen to keep if without the owner consent, and try to sell/trade/make a giveaway for it you may get in trouble, since after all "its not yours to give". And even tho its not against the rules, that kind of behavior can and will be reported, leading to suspensions and ban.

Yeah, sure, asking first is the better option if it is allowed, I just wanted to make sure I'm really allowed to do it.

How it's not theirs to give? How it's the winners fault that the activation gave another copy in his inventory? As I said..

Might not be my fault, but I still got a game I didn't pay for, and I'm not greedy enough to just run away with the gift copy without saying anything.

As far as I know, it's perfectly legal to gift the extra copy you get given if you activated the one you won. You'll be "safe" from any accusations of re-gifting because you'll have a copy in your library...if you want to make sure you cover all your bases though, just put some kind of explanation in the description of the GA you create ;)

Well, I could give it back to the giveaway creator like I did so he could use it or create a second giveaway. :P

So he'll actually get another copy every time? You gave the copy back > he makes a new GA > the new winner sends him the additional copy back - and it goes on like this "forever". It's not your fault that the activation gave you another copy in your inventory, I still think it's yours to do whatever you want to do with it.

Not quite sure it actually happens more than one time... Like I said, some games (like the ones I listed above) mostly always comes in 2-packs, but if for exemple I gave you Gun Monkeys gift I got in my inventory, it won't give another one because it was already a gift copy I got when I activated mine.

Aren't these gifts properly labeled as "Guest Pass"? Only one like that I encountered is Killing Floor, and the gift in my inventory is identified as such.

Hello everyone,
I tried looking through the discussions to find an answer to my question, but I couldn't, hope someone sees this and help me with it.
The other day, I won Takedown: Red Sabre, and when I activated it, a gift copy popped up in my inventory. I already knew about rules for re-gifting/trading gifts and didn't have time to look deeper, so I just sent the gift copy back to the giveaway creator just to make sure I wouldn't be accused of doing it.
Now my question, if it even happens again (because there's a lot of games that gives gift copies, like Gun Monkeys, ibb&obb, Space Farmers...), am I allowed to keep the gift copy and trade/gift it or is it considered re-gifting?
