Quantum Break requires Internet connection for streaming cut scenes on PC

You would think that someone would have at least said "maybe this is a bad idea, after all many people have data caps, so lets not force them to download these large videos every time they want to play the game, in fact lets not force them to have an always on internet connection at all!"

But no, they just say "Most PC gamers in the West are connected to the Internet 24/7 these days anyway, so this won't be a material issue for most of the game's target audience."

BTW the cut scenes are 4K video quality, so more then likely huge.

The game looked awesome. Then I heard it was for Xbone only. Then I heard it was actually coming to PC. And then I heard, windows 10 store only and would require windows 10 even though there is no need for it. Now this.

If this is how they are going to treat games for PCs, its going to be a huge failure. They just don't seem to learn.

No, was never interested in it.
I was, but now with all this news about it I'm rethinking about that.
I was, but now with all this news about it, I'm not.
I'm just gonna get it on XBox One and if I get a free code for the game on PC, its just bonus.

Quantum what?

Most PC gamers in the West

Well, at least someone flat-out said it officially that they don't care about the players outside the Western countries. I'm sure players in China, Japan, Korea, Australia, and the few Middle-Eastern countries where they aren't actively shooting each other will be delighted to know that.
And us in Eastern Europe? Well, we will just use our 100+ Mbps cheap connections to torrent it. Because, well, the "fuck them" attitude sometimes can be justified…

I thought it looked good, but I live in Canada and our data caps are low as hell here, there's no way in hell I'm going to be able to justify paying 60+ for a game and then paying 120+ in internet fees just to play the fuckin' thing :(

i personally wouldn't have a problem with the online requirement. my internet connection is alright. but it's a really shitty move for all people with low connection speed or connectivity problems. and i fear the quality of the video will be worse than local versions. they may offer up to 4k, but with what bitrate? 4k at a descent bitrate is something most people wouldn't be able to stream anyway.

and why are they doing this? to prevent pirated copies, of course. once again a case where honest buyers have to suffer. this really makes me want to pirate it...
