Copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta of a copy pasta since I'm just that lazy :D.
Hello hello and welcome all to the madness.
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: Horizon Zero Dawn™ Complete Edition
Hopefully they'll patch it before this gib ends :/
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for nearly five years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on September 4th when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time. It may be hard to believe, but I don't live here. I am a real human living in a human home doing human things and in no way an alien invading learning all your weakeness.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, and don't forget to give the man a bit of candy.

Comment here once done.
I'm so glad my backlog got 6 games shorter.
Done. I picked some doozies this month!
Ping I am done :D
Done as well! :)
At Last. I'm Done
Shadow of War was great, better than 1st.
Black Mesa is amazing. Nostalgia played a role, but still the game is great.
It was fun! But I didn't expect one of the games to be almost 50 hours to play/beat X"D
Finally done !
Completed six games. Link to list
Done This month was a blast
Done! I have lots of games from Monthly/Choice, so this is a great way to play them when I have the time.
Finished the games posted here
A Case of Distrust
Old Man's Journey
Whispers of a Machine
All done. Thanks
*Achievements in this game seem to be broken, I couldn't get any of them.
don't worry about inviting me, I just did it for the challenge
Good luck to everyone who enters :)
Here, I forgot to leave a comment here...
Sorry but it is already over :/.
I finished 6 games on Aug 24, you may check the date on all screenshots and the edited time of the comment.
to clarify, the horizon zero dawn giveaway has already ended.
Pretty much what Andrew said. I'm not constantly going through all the comments to see if they have been updated, which is why I ask people to reply to the first comment so I can catch them. I'm sorry you missed out, but there is nothing that can be done about this now.
Ow... Yeah! I'll join again for the 4th time now (3x streak so far). Thank you so much for the great events, Cjcomplex!
Note: When I'm playing Basingstoke, I finished the last level and after that it goes Endless mode without Closing Credits.
[EXTRA] If I don't finish one of the listed.
SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years.
Yeah, just watched a gameplay. It must be really cool to dodge the bullets and shoot at the same time.
Thank you for doing this again. HZD is definitely worth the shot.
Finished games list:
My Friend Pedro from April 2020 - achievements screenshots
My Friend Pedro started out fun but got a bit frustrating with all the mechanics to keep track of, as well as the later laser puzzles. Still enjoyable enough.
ABZU from February 2017 - achievements screenshots
Love taking screenshots, and it's basically impossible to take a bad screenshot in ABZU, so that's nice. The underwater controls could be annoying but eventually got used to them.
A Short Hike from April 2019 - achievements
Cute story and aesthetic, and the game really nails the feeling of exploration and discovering new things that can be found in much larger RPGs.
MINIT from April 2019 - achievements
WIth few exceptions, I dislike timed missions, and this game constantly having the 60-second timer was annoying for sure. Plus some of the item/character locations were hard to figure out even with in-game hints and made me glad I resorted to a guide on occasion. Still, the game had a fun way to implement a throwback art style and funny dialogue, and at least it was short.
Late Shift from March 2019 - achievements
Love this type of game, and the overall production value is pretty high. Too bad the game is pretty inflexible regarding replayability in terms of skipping scenes and selecting specific chapters, but at least it's easy to play while alt-tabbing in and out.
Tacoma from February 2018 - achievements
I liked Gone Home alright, and I think Tacoma expanded on the concept well for the most part. Being in an empty space station as opposed to an empty house added to the appeal. It reminds me of films/books like Moon (2009) and The Martian in a good way.
My idler malfunctioned and playtime got unusually high on Tacoma. Let me know if I need a replacement game for it.
I'm in! :D
Finished a Case of Distrust. A really nice investigative story that's text-heavy and is full of unexpected plot twists. [Spoiler] I ended the game by letting the murderer go though. Like Frankie said, the police closed the case and even though I think he shouldn't have killed Green, he did that and not for himself but for the "me" in the story. I'm like... wth, alright then...
I actually played that game about 2 years ago and I really liked it. Glad to see it in the monthly but it made me realize how fast time is flying by and how old I'm getting ;-;.
Had to replace the Rock of Ages 2 game because (probably because of the camera angles when the rock fell or got stuck somewhere) the game made me nauseous.
Man, Serial Cleaner is so insanely fun! The thrill of ducking into a potted plant mere milliseconds before the cops caught me was incredible and who'd thought the cleaner is such a momma's boy :P
Thanks for creating this backlog crushing event! I'll be participating with
Avernum 3: Ruined World The End Screenshot and A Home acheivement
Regions Of Ruin (Beaten) Ending Credits Screenshot
Cities: Skylines (Beaten, reached the last milestone) Screenshot of Final Milestone Completed
Hidden Folks (Completed) 100% Achievements
Moon Hunters (Beaten) Ending Result Screenshot
Barotrauma (Beaten/played several rounds in multiplayer) Screenshot of Completed Mission
and Achievements completed at least six rounds (10+ hours) marked in the achievements, the game is still developing in EA and single player is extremely difficult at this time since it is meant to be multiplayer and co-op the "This is fine." achievement came from a complete meltdown of the submarine, LOL
I'm disallowing Barotrauma since it is unfinished without a complete campaign. I don't want to make judgment calls on how many rounds in multiplayer counts as beaten.
I'm also inclined to disallow Cities: Skylines since I know there is no campaign. Going to look into the game a bit more to see if "milestones" can be considered an equivalent but no promises.
That's fine, I finished two alternatives
Beaten: Don't Escape: 4 days to Survive
Completed: A Case of Distrust
Apparently zero percent of players have completed the campaign in Barrotrauma and there are players with literally hundreds of hours. So it may not even be fully implemented since it's Early Acess XD
Cities: Skylines has pretty much everything unlocked once you complete the milestones (beyond the DLC packs) and the 'final' stage is building the different monuments.

Event's end date needs to be fixed
Thanks. You no longer need to be time traveler to participate :D.
Have some vacation time lined up so I'll give it a try. Went back to some of the earliest Monthlies for this.
Bonus redemption game:
And DONE. That took less than I expected, but dropping The Masterplan shaved off a few days most likely.
ooof, thank god I'm not interesting in Horizon, so I can breathe freely this month and just play minesweeper (kinda)
Have a bump :)
Ooh very interested!
Ok Etherborn's narration is terrible. First 5 minutes has made me not want to play this game, even though the puzzle parts seem alright. Might have to come back to it when that narration at the beginning is slightly forgotten.
I've been holding back with participation until the price was something I really wanted. Now here we gooooo...
I'm going to play:
You should fix your post, 'cause I don't think this event'll end on august 7th
Maybe this was an elaborate ruse to flush out time travelers. Maybe this was me being lazy with the copy pasta. Who can say, they are both very plausible scenarios ...
Stupid time travelers, they always have some extra time >/<
Thanks for the event
Just a question, would Hello Neigbor and HN: Hide and Seek count as one game or two?
i imagine they'd be separate since they're different games and different keys.
andreeeeeww is correct. I will count them as separate for the reasons he mentioned.
Question: when I started playing a game from the ones I just listed and find out I don't like it - can I just switch it out and replace it with another one or am I bound to the ones I posted?
can I just switch it out and replace it with another one
can I just switch it out and replace it with another one
Yes you can. You do not need to tell me which games you are using to qualify upfront. So long as you can show me that you have completed any 6 games within the given time frame, I'm happy.
Cool, thanks for telling me - sounds doable that way :)
I'm reporting in my leave of this challenge. I wanted the game so badly, I went ahead and traded for it.
Thanks nonetheless for the fantastic chance and the event, Cj. I had fun playing what I played so far :)
already have HZD on PS4, and still have half of my PoP games to play (none of which were in monthlies), so I'll have to skip this month.
Good luck to everyone else though :)
Ye I also have it on PS4, so I'm waiting for a sale before buying it again. Kinda sucks that the port was not up to par :/. Hopefully they fix it soon.
Do you also trade games in general, because I cannot play that much at the moment :/
i have it on ps4, cause my dad had it on ps4. But I kind of hate playing anything on the ps4. Especially shooters with controllers. I've waited years for it to come to pc lol
It’s only been out a few years. Many of us are surprised it was even ported to pc in the first place as it was one of the ps4’s big exclusives.
Yeah I know, I was surprised too. I've been waiting as long as it came out on ps4 then :P There's just some games I can't do. Like, Skyrim I can play with a controller no problem, but not Fallout.
I'm gonna give this a try even though I'm not sure i'll have enough time to manage. I can't believe it's already been 5 years of monthly/choice. Thanks for organizing this Cj :3
(I hope it's fine I didn't finish the one i picked first but it's too mind numbing to rush that thing.)
I still have to play 3 long games for PoP, but I'll try
A Case of Distrust
Pool Panic Old Man's Journey
Whispers of a Machine
edit: don't think I can be bothered finishing Pool Panic, I swapped with another game
Yet another amazing giveaway and a great incentive to beat some purchases and wins - thank you!
Time to join another month :D
I am also done~ :D
Feared Shadow of War would take too long, but made it all in time!
