the ones I was interested about, I already have - but there are a couple of wishlisted games there... how does it work for monthly subscribers? Are all of these games non-steam? Can they give them away if they want?

(and, on a side note, would it count as begging if I asked someone for a couple of those games?)

The games in the trove are all DRM free and non-Steam.
However some of the games can be bought on Steam.

I believe it will be pirating (and therefore illegal) if somebody gave them away.

Edit: Some games have previously been free as well: 6 months ago

It works. Yes. No. Yes.

While you're an active subscriber (or the games are being offered free) you can download any of the DRM-free Trove games to your hard drive. Once your sub (or the promotion) ends, you can no longer download further content but, thanks to the content being DRM-free, can still play any previously downloaded content.

DRM or DRM-free, any game you get a hold of is going to be covered by laws prohibiting reproduction and unauthorized transmission of any components. You can reproduce for personal use, such as by installing on multiple home computers or by modding, but you can't openly transmit any data, modified or unmodified, beyond what you can justify as personal use [rule of thumb: If someone can, without your active participation, play it outside of your household, then it's almost certainly not personal use anymore]. (Side-note, DRM-protected content is also covered by security laws, so attempting to duplicate DRM-protected content even for personal use is still going to get you in trouble, due to the prerequisite necessity of first breaking through the DRM. Therein lies the primary difference between DRM and DRM-free content.)

SG rules prohibit soliciting gifts of any sort, so you can only request games in response to someone offering them in the first place.
However, since SG also prohibits active involvement with piracy, you're unlikely to get anyone offering these games here. All the more so since they're openly available to anyone to begin with, making such an offer rather peculiar.

You must download them now.

Or be an active humble bundle monthly subscriber - and even then they can be removed from the Trove without warning.

Just a capsule review: Fortune-499 is awesome.

It doesn't look anything great, I looks like every other "retro / pixel" bullshit, but the gameplay loop is so intoxicating.

It's basically rock, paper, scissor, but you can draw a card to "predict" what your opponent will play. The more cards you draw, the more uncertainty you introduce into the prediction, but draw too few and you wont have a clear idea of what they intend to do.

I'm a smidge stuck right now, keep getting my ass handed to me, but so far, I've really really enjoyed it. So, I highly recommend, even if it doesn't look like your sort of game, since it's free, give it a try.

Oh, yeah, I won that game here! It's actually cool as. The gameplay's neat, but I'm also just a fan of the whole weird magic workplace politics and dialogue XD

These have been available in the trove for most of the year. Looks like they will be removed on the 16th though.

Damn, I need to grab them! Thanks for the tip

Edit: they're marked as "free until Sept. 16th" which probably only means they're available to non-subscribers only until then. They're trying to get people to subscribe by giving them a free sample (guess Overwatch is not working out). Still I'll grab them just in case ;)

It is unlikely, there was some confusion with the wording in another simila/samer topic as well - the games are found free in the Trove until [date], they will stay afterwards, just not free :)

I wish they wouldn't cross monthly sub stuff with trove itself. The more subbed you are less appealing trove is because you already have a good chunk of those games.

The more subbed you are less appealing trove is because you already have access to the full trove to freely download all the games and keep them forever

Outside of Humble originals, have they actually overlapped any games in Trove with Monthlies?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Pretty sure Tiny Echo, Getting Over it With Benedict Cumberbatch, Gunmetal Arcadia, Copoka, Kimmy, Starward Rogue and Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurnog were simultaneously released to Trove and as Steam unlocks, if memory serves. Maybe more (I'm suspecting Brutale Sex and The End is Nigh...). Correct me if I am wrong.

EDIT: Just noticed Getting Over It was an original, not sure about the others now, hmm.

Originals always immediately release DRM-Free as Trove additions, which is why I was curious if any non-originals [that were also in Monthly bundles] had been included. Offhand I recall Getting Over It, Copoka, Gunmental, and Kimmy as being originals. Likewise, while I recall that some non-Originals were added later on, I didn't think that any of them had been in Monthlies before. I can't say I paid that much attention to it all, but even if I'm mistaken about the overlap, it still doesn't seem as though it'd be a particularly large one.

Edit: A quick google search seems to indicate that every game that you listed other than Starward Rogue is an Original; Starward Rogue does in fact seem to be an overlap, as its bundle had 'Disc Room' as the Original for that month.

I don't see the point, i mean if someone is already subscribed to the monthly, they can already access the previous games / all games in the trove. I mean if i subscribe next month (i.e. for November monthly) still i'll get these trove games (that they're advertising as FREE GAMES). In case if these are steam keys, then makes sense, otherwise it's a BS, nothing else.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit - I think the purpose is served.. the target audience are those who are not a monthly subscriber.

Trove is DRM-free, so pretty obviously these are not Steam keys.
And point is: they want to show for people who never subscribed (or just a long while ago) what they can offer in the Trove by giving a taste of it. (also having anything free is an advertisement for a site) And how can you access the other games? By subscribing. It's not the monthly-buying people, who are the target of this move.

Well, you're right, they've targeted the audience who are not a monthly subscriber. i think in that case this OP should be updated with more information like "Humble bundle account required for free trove games" and " you need not to be a subscriber to download those DRM free games "

The account one likely (though creating one is less than a minute, and will tell you when you go to the page), but the other one is not - you only need to subscribe to access the other games (that are not the topic of the post) - and the site tells the user about that as well :)

Does anyone have Uurnog Uurnlimited from Humble store or bundle as DRM FREE download to tell us date/version ? I grabbed it from this Trove and it's dated 17-01-2018 so I wonder how often (or at all) these are updated. The Steam file version is different but because of the platform it's not straightforward to tell if they follow the same numbering (but in any case that version seems higher than this one).

The Trove download is the same version as the one from Humble Monthly.

Question about Trove in general, and not just this GA. Are games ever removed?

There are like 12 or 15 games which I have been interested in for some months, and I'm just waiting for a Monthly reveal that really suits me. Meanwhile, games are being added and others given away, like Shadowrun returns, Satellite Reign, or in this case Tiny Echo and Limbo

I am also intersted in The end is nigh, both Torchlights, Copoka, Sexy Brutale, SOMA, The incredible machine, Trine, The Bridge and Bard's tale.

In short, if I wait longer, will I see more games being added to the trove, or are they replaced? Is there a chance to miss my opportunity to grab one of these?

It seems that HB primarily adds games. It seems uncommon they remove games, however it has happened at least once.

We can't really tell.
