Need some info on the keyboards gamers use and for what type of games. If you can tell me what key switch type goes with your keyboard, the better.

I just recently bought a new membrane keyboard (R8 Illuminated) for a very cheap price after retiring my 11-year old keyboard. But when looking at the mechanical type reviews on the net, I do really like to try a good mechanical keyboard. Though in the Philippines, its hard to find shops to buy some famous brands.

So here I am asking for tips from the SG community for what keyboard am I going to buy. Have around 8-10k PhP (around 170-210 USD) for my budget. I usually play Dota 2, CS:GO, and Left 4 Dead 2. I also have some SP games that are RPG, FPS, and RTS.

Also, here is the SGTools protected train (lvl 2). You already know what's gonna happen if you entry is invalid.
If you can notice a style on how I create my GA trains, I'll put you in my WL (1 user only)
1st Hint: Not with the GA genres, but on the manner on how I create them
2nd Hint: Don't mind the GA names
3rd Hint: These are my previous trains. Don't mind the descriptions though. 1st, 2nd, and lastly, the 3rd.

And the winner is: malabagaa

Each GA ends 1 minute after its predecessor =P

Another thing, give me an awesome synonym or replacement word for bump, you will be added in my WL, too.

Update: from conducting research on gaming websites and from the discussion here in SG, I have concluded that the keyboards that are good for purchase are [1st] Poseidon-Z (which is a budget mech keyboard but a great one) and [2nd] Logitech G810 (awesome board at a much higher price but the specs are awesome).

2nd Update: GA by the legend Yirg!

ciabattata! (???)

ciabatta is for slipper in italian. a ciabattata is literally a blow given with a slipper.

my keyboard is the poors keyboard: cm storm

thanks for twd. i have like 400 single entries for that game. not joking.

Everyday I'm shuffling

Hopefully CG can make stats of games with the most entries made by a user. If you're disappointed that you still haven't won TWD, I entered Space Farmers for months with 426 entries (public, group, or invite), then there was a massive giveaway from a website!!!

I have a Corsair Strafe with Cherry MX Red keys and so far it works like a charm. Got it around a year ago and it is fairly silent compared to other mech-keyboards. Also, you don't have to press the key all the way down for input, light touches are more than enough. It is down in the "budget" section of the gaming mech-keyboards (you can probably find one for 100-120$) but don't let that fool you. It's well worth the money.

Nice recommendation. I'm not a high end gamer by any stretch, so an expensive model wouldn't be worth it for me. I definitely prefer quieter keyboards. Will look into this one later.

Disregarding your current keyboard, which do you think is better with most games and less typing: K70 or Strafe?

As I said, the Strafe is pretty low budget so it's a simple keyboard.
The K70 has different advantages like the multimedia keys and wrist support.

The keys are identical, more or less. But if you have long gaming sessions, the K70's wrist support is a comfy way to go. If you care about money, then go for the Strafe as it offers the same standard keyboard functionality as the K70 but at a slightly lower price.

Strafe and K70 have identical prices @ 129.99 on their standard red or brown switches. I've recently viewed on youtube about the difference of the two and it shows that strafe is for quiet typing and k70 for gaming

Also, strafe has better lighting when you compare their RGB types

I see. Well, in the shops around here the Strafe is around 130$ and the K70 is around 170$.
If you can get the K70 for the same money, then go for it! :D

There can be no alternative for bump, only aggressively chicken dancing over to you comes close.

It's fairly easy to buy a mechanical keyboard off-brand as long as the switches are cherry you can't go wrong, really. I don't know how many places use unique switches that Corsair and Razer make so I'd stick to genuine cherry mx switches.

I prefer brown switches, a very slight tactile feel while not interfering with gaming. Also, only buy a mechanical keyboard that's on sale. I don't think they're worth the premium most stores attach to them (though this rule is probably harder to follow where you are). They're great but they're not premium great for what's basically a classic style keyboard.

This seems like a decent deal and keyboard:

I have a Ducky Shine (uncertain which one, probably 3) with Cherry MX Red, it has worked fine for years and I've really liked it. I also like that it's minimalistic in form and not trying to be fancy.

I have an Asus Echelon Mechanical keyboard (Cherry MX Black)

IMHO there's not much difference when comparing it to my previous membrane keyboards, I didn't get any better at games and I don't really feel the difference when typing

although I'm sure it will last a lot longer than any of my previous keyboards, it is well built and massive as f*ck

I didn't feel like doing research when I bought my keyboard, so I just went with the Razer Blackwidow Chroma because I liked the RGB effect and it was cheaper than some of the other, similar stuff I saw. It's my first mechanical keyboard so I don't know what makes for a good one but I'm really liking it so far. The design is nice, it's easy to clean and pop the keys off and on again, the clicky clacky sound is great, and I find I type very well with it. Also, it doesn't look like a gaming keyboard which is nice since I like a more nondescript look.

If you really want to spend the money, I would recommend an Apex M800.
It's less noisy than Red Cherry's but totally audible still, the feel is great if you like good short, linear, non-clicky feedback.

My favorite thing is that I can plug it on any computer with my per-key defined settings saved on it.

If you're looking for the king of mechanical, get your hands on an IBM Model M type. There's a reason why the basic design of those is still in use over 30 years after it was introduced. (Look up the Unicomp Classic model) . They're expensive though, and really take getting used to.

Also, I think booping a thread would be a god alternative to bumping
