Thank you for this discussion topic thats been brought up and answered many times!!!
Basically if you don't want people saying thank you in your giveaways, make it a point to say that in your description and specifically say something like "if you say thank you in any form I will ask for a reroll". Though I believe this has to be oked by support as a "special rule" so can't be done in a public giveaway. I also think thats a little rude.
Maybe try saying something like "Instead of saying thanks post a picture of a cute kitten" or ask for a joke or ask them how much snow they have gotten over winter if they are in an area that gets snow in the winter. Basically ask some question that you might actually be interested in. :)
But even then you are still going to get thank yous cause there are many who don't read the descriptions.
Oh and again thank you :)

I vote that we make it a norm to post a dank meme or a cat gif instead of thanks.

I'll remember to come into your next giveaways and always comment "thanks" even if I'm not going to enter them. Thanks for speaking your mind.
Seriously though, don't tell people what to do. Especially that you're basically encouraging lack of gratitude which is a dick move, honestly.

Many people think that if they comment "thanks" and "wow I want this game so bad" increasing their chance to win the game, because there are many people here on SG who has basically no idea about the random winner choosing. Lots of users are thinking that the giveaway creator choosing the winners, I've already asked a few "thanks" spammers myself. I'm not saying "thanks" comments are only from noobs, but most of them are spamming thanks because of the reason i stated. So far I only made just a few giveaways but "thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks x1000" totally did not show gratitude for me. There should be a thanks button or something, but I really don't care about them.
The real gratitude shows when the giveaway winner is taking his/her time to press the damn "received" button.
All those "thanks" really does not bother me, but does not show gratitude at all, it's all the same to me because it's very impersonal. That's my opinion.

I have made a comment on every entry I've ever entered, and I usually try to say something unique rather than copy/paste.
I don't do it because I think the winner is chosen by the GA creator, I do it to be polite. I thank the girl who serves me coffee in the morning and she's being paid to do that; why wouldn't I thank someone for giving away a game I want for free?

Yeah, I comment on 4 types of situations:
Every time I try to not only say thank you but a comment regarding the game itself or the user's nickname or avatar

Can I quote you and put this on all my giveaways?

Thanks for the suggestion. It's true, I don't care about the "thanks".

My message notification gets so full of "thanks" every time I create a few giveaways.
Honestly, if your comment is nothing other than "thanks", I'd rather you don't comment at all.
UPDATE: LOL now my message notification is full of "thanks" in the discussion forum as well. Well played, internet. Well played.
I love this quote, so I added to the top. Commented by RammPatricia
UPDATE: I actually included the "please do not thanks" in my GA description, people are finally slowly getting it. I wonder was it the power of this thread? Now I do not get 99+ notifications a day now (still I get like 50+).
