None. All games based on movies have been bad or mediocre at best and all movies based on games have been bad. That seems very much like a pattern.

But there was many good games based on movies. All those Capcom-Disney platformers like Aladdin. Goldeneye, plenty of LotR games, Star Wars games. The 80s and 90s were full of pretty good games/arcades based on movies. It's not really that hard to make a good game based on a movie. It's not impossible though. The problem is that usually they need to make the game fast - it needs to be finished before the movie airs - and with small budget. Games like that usualy earn money so why care? Take a look at Wreck-it-Ralph. It could be good game made by SEGA, Nintendo, Capcom, whoever had an idea and money to make it true. But no, Activision. And majority of movie games end up like that.
As for the movies based on games, it's really hard to not fail. You can either make the movie for casual people, or fans of the game. It's almost impossible to find a golden centre. But as long as the director has a good idea, knows how to make a movie that would have a good atmosphere, similiar to the game, it may come out pretty well. Right now I'm waiting for a Metal Gear Solid movie. It'd be really hard to make it bad, since it's almost a movie already.

StarCraft 2, KotOR, Mass Effect 2&3, Jurassic Park from Telltale games, Planescape: Torment (yep, 2d isometric movie ;) ) Tomb Raider: Legend and Tomb Raider: Underworld (many action, though not much of acting), The Witcher 2 (and maybe The Witcher 1), Alan Wake and Broken Sword series. I believe The Walking Dead might be mentioned here as well, but I haven't played it yet.

I believe the idea of the thread was about games that have the experience as of watching a movie. Maybe I've misunderstood something, dunno.
UPD: Ah, well. Maybe you're right. I've just enjoyed that virtual interactive movie so much so I'd like to mention it it this thread :)

+1 totally agree on that. Just who will play Kerrigan ?

Kerrigan ? That's the easiest casting choice of the lot: Tricia Helfer.
Provides the voice in SCII, character design also seems to draw from her looks, and has decent enough track record as an actress. (Most notably as Six in Battlestar Galactica)

Alan Wake would be awesome. There is actually a "movie" made from gameplay pieces, but I'm afraid that gameplay is necessary just to link cutscenes - otherwise it is horribly boring BUT cutscenes are soooo fascinating!

Thanks to the Steam Summer Sale I've been able to catch up on a few titles I thought I'd missed out on recently for whatever reason. Playing Tomb Raider got me thinking, I would actually really enjoy watching this as a movie - it has a good balance of emotion and action, drama and discovery - and the pacing and scope for expansion would come together pretty well in a feature length film. As someone who is already interested in Japan and its myths and history, I'm really enjoying experiencing this story unfold.
What games would you enjoy sitting down to watch? To clarify, I mean based specifically on that game's plot and characters (I know there's already Tomb Raider films).
