Do you think that those issues should be fixed?
It was similar to hoy PayPal works now, typing in a number started it from the right side and you moved the amount to the left. In itself, this was not uncommon, but if you wanted to change the amount, it started from the beginning, not where the cursor was. And they had a pre-defined amount in there already. Additionally, sometimes selecting the entire text and deleting did nothing. So it was easy to accidentally type hundreds of dollars in there.
It wasn't a huge issue, but enough to get some mentions in their bundle threads.

That's pretty dumb... Like really dumb :D
IndieGala has always been a bit of a joke to me after they deleted my account which had about 20 spare keys for giveaways. They never even really acknowledged my issue. So I'm not surprised to see that them be so out of touch with everything.

I thought only the french use commas for separating decimals. I think if u put . instead of , it would work.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, they don't recognize commas but they do recognize periods. But also the Baltics use commas and I think some of Scandinavia(?).
As to others I can't say.
EDIT: thenevernow showed a good graph about this

English way is periods, I think sites generally use that standard.
(the horror starts when during modelling you use an english software with periods in it as output, then add it to a university's localized program that uses commas and can't use it as an input :D )

The comma as decimal mark is actually used in most European countries outside of the UK.
Here is the full list if you scroll down a bit:

This is how the comma and dot works
Also their site is shit

Hard to normalize something when not everyone uses the same system, according to that chart about 48% use commas, 44% use dots, and 8% use other stuff.

I think Paypal geolocates you and uses commas and dots accordingly. Still I find their new "send money" interface a mess.

Not in my country.
In my country is like this: 1.000.000,00 $
But indie gala uses this format: $1,000,000.00

Well, I never said they were doing it right! ;) All I said is that there's no "right" or "wrong" since the world is definitely split on the topic.

At that point you just go to your bank and dispute it.

I also never noticed this. I don't buy much from there anymore I guess.

I started entering the $3.50 and pressed enter... IndieGala turned it into a $10 price...
Then I wrote in $3,49 and instead of being $3,49 it actually was $349... WHAT?
Hold on a second there, mate.
First you used a dot, and they messed it up into a tenner.
Then you thought "screw them" and lowered the price you were gonna pay with a cent and tried to write it with a comma, and they changed that to $349.
Seems like they want your money bad, yo.
Nah, for reals, why did you move from $3.50 to $3.49? :D
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, as to moving from period to comma, it's because as I'm from Europe, I use the comma. But I also know that I should use the period, so I constantly shift between the two :D
But I did remove that $0,01 out of spite. Petty power gets into the heads of petty men. :D

decimal comma > decimal point
time's ripe for a ww3 anyway ...
then we can "fix" that as well

i know right ... never thought before of what could
be improved, when time's right to bang again

Well, for once I believe Americans are doing it right. A list of values with decimal comma gets very messy and hard to read (especially with a variable width font with bad spacing):
"The somethingmeter detected the following values: 42,34, 33,43, 23,44, 12,32, 27,37, 432,4, 342,1, 3,3, 1,2."
A decimal point solves the issue and it is much cleaner visually:
"The somethingmeter detected the following values: 42.34, 33.43, 23.44, 12.32, 27.37, 432.4, 342.1, 3.3, 1.2."
Of course, using a thousands separator reverses the problem, but that is entirely optional unless you are working with huge numbers.

you're right on the readability part, as comma is used to space things apart and point usually ends them ... overall with
different systems are just bothersome and a mess, that can result in fatal miscalculations (as known [or not] in recent history)
https://mathspig.wordpress.com/category/lists/10-biggest-mathematical-disasters-in-the-world-lists/
math is quite abstract ... for our (still) chimp-like brains (some more some less) its a overall a difficult concept to grasp

i actually agree with that. same for miles.. i live in non-metric area and would prefer it if i did.
i get your point though, but you have to use the symbol relating to the currency they choose. not you choose. that's like me calling EU and telling them i want my cords to be 3yards long because 3meters is too long.

It's more like site coding problem, not user problem.
IndieGala doesn't state anywhere "use dots". So people use decimal symbol they're used to. When I write "3,59" on HumbleBundle page it converts it automatically to "3.59" and everyone is happy. When I write it on IG it converts it into "359"...
And yeah, I have to use on university Windows with english as base language, as HPLC software is USA-made and program doesn't accept " , " as decimal point (it's set as default in my native language). So I know what you mean :D But it's special software, not internet site that should be easy to use for all people. Not matter if they're from USA, Germany or Antarctica.

well i mean if you know about it, it's not really a problem, but yes it could certainly be more forgiving and correct it for you. it's very clear whichever is chosen it means the same thing regardless of which currency you're working with. i certainly can't argue there. i just kind of think it's overkill to complain about, other then too indiegala themselves. too each there own though, i'm not trying to bash the thread, it's still fine with me.

IndieGala will not let you pay more than $50 for a bundle anyway. Even if you missed the mistake it wouldn't have gone through.

Everyone who uses a comma is wrong.
Also anyone who doesn't speak English, drive on the right side of the road, use Fahrenheit, Feet, and Pounds, spell "Color" and "Center" properly, and drink "Coke" instead of "Soda, Pop, or Cola" is also wrong. D:
Did I leave anyone untriggered? :P

just in case anyone took me seriously, I was completely kidding.
Here's a Kappa to help signify my jokingness.

Well, I wanted to start paying for the product and started entering the custom price.
I started entering the $3.50 and pressed enter... IndieGala turned it into a $10 price...
Then I wrote in $3,49 and instead of being $3,49 it actually was $349... WHAT?
So basically they don't recognize commas and they just randomly change the prices...
They could fix it easily, yet it's not been fixed for years now.
Not saying that it's something malicious. But if it's not that then it's extreme laziness from that disrespect towards the consumer.
