Try End of Nations. It's made by Petroglyph, which is largely comprised of former member of Westwood, the guys who made the Command & Conquer series (up until Generals). If you liked those games, then I'd heavily recommend End of Nations.

Uh.. I read all three pages of this thread and no one recommanded Guild Wars 2. It's 100% playable and incredibly fun, way better than any MMO ever released.
