I am! Here is some gameplay.
Developed by indie British developers Introversion who are responsible for Uplink, Darwinia, Defcon and Multiwinia. Their games tend to be well made and pretty interesting. I'm personally looking forward to this, kinda reminds me of Theme Hospital, and I do like a good management game. Can anyone recommend me some similar games? Management/ base building kinda games.

Here are some I like:
Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2 - Dig tunnels/expand base
Evil Genius - be an evil villain with a lair & minions (yes as good as it sounds)
Theme Hospital - run a hospital
Theme Park - run a theme park
The Movies - run a movie studio
Dwarfs!? - dig tunnels outwards and avoid lava/water/monsters
Sid Meier's Sim Golf - run a golf course, play on it (i loved this, maybe am weird)
Startopia - run/build a space station (more playful than it sounds)
Zoo Tycoon - run and manage a zoo with animals (sequels too)

I'm finding it hard to define these games, most have a form of base building and management, care to recommend anything?
Edit: Prison Architect alpha is out here, they're trying their own sort of kickstarter approach. WARNING: not cheap

I'm finding it hard to define these games,

simulators?

Simulators is an overly broad term. This subgenre is what he's looking for, I think.

Thanks :) I notice there are a lot of poorly made games in this genre too, usually called Airline Tycoon 9 or Restaurant Manager 7

If you're talking about the Restaurant Empire games, I can't say I agree. While a bit flawed, both of them were enjoyable.

I was just generalising a bit, I often would get excited by the premise of these games, to be disappointed

Yeah, that does tend to happen. But then again, most games in every genre, not just this one, are disappointing. For genres with many releases, this is not a big problem, as the bad games are forgotten and the good games become representatives of the genre. But when a genre has few releases, these become highly anticipated, and any disappointments are not easily forgotten.

Kinda, not all of these would apply to that. Also simulators to me also means, Train Sims, Flight Sims etc. I really don' t want to to play those

You should try Startopia. And maybe Space Colony.

Startopia! You genius! I remember playing that.. I will add it and check out Space Colony

Space Colony is interesting, thanks for the recommendation. I get slightly fustrated with the Sims style needs system but I've enjoyed what I've played so far.

I was going to add a "only comment if you have something interesting to say" line at the end of my post. But then I thought, surely there's no sociopaths and dickheads on steamgifts forums...

I'll have a look :) I went to Rezzed and saw this talk by them. It's long but pretty interesting. They talk about the previous game they scrapped and how they got to this one

Biing 1 + 2, very old games, satiristic hospital (1) and tourist park (2) sims
but be careful some ppl might call them sexist...

Sounds like you're talking about Theme Hospital and Theme Park.

That's what I thought until I google image searched "Biing" - now I know why they might call them sexist, hah

I find it disappointing that Introversion decided to scrap their previous project and do this instead. I can only hope that the cutesy graphics are their way of making a statement about the prison industry. The fact that you have to actually perform executions on the inmates... is unsettling.

If you find the time, watch the video link above. The developer says (in summary) Subversion was cool but the gameplay turned out to be shit, lol

And in the end, a cool idea is nothing without good gameplay. Smart move on their part, I think.

I think I got it release day for XBOX 1. Its on Amazon or Ebay. Its a rare game so it tends to be pricey.

There's also a demo which is also awesome.

I'm happy paying for it but you're essentially paying quite a bit to test their (slightly broken) game for them

I'm really looking forward to EA's next SimCity... yet I'm sadly convinced that their always online, multiplayer focused direction will tragically kill it.

I still play The Movies occasionally, an excellent game IMO.
Unfortunately there aren't many semi modern Construction/Management games out there anymore, and Prison Architech doesn't sound particularly interesting to me.

Smooth Operators, included in the latest Indie Gala bundle (DRM free bonus game), also belongs on that list. It's similar to Theme Hospital, only you build your own call center. It's pretty addictive, give it a go.

It looks like a lot of fun! I would pick it up if I had the money. To be honest, when I heard about it the other day I got really excited. Started reading about it on the site and didn't bother paying attention to the price until I was long past sold. xD I'll try to pick it up whenever I may have some spare moneys.

Okay, so now, with a cynical thought I looked up some interesting tycoon titles, thinking that maybe someone joked about there being a tycoon game for basically anything. The result: I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THIS SHIT EVEN EXISTS

P.S. is it sick that now I want to play it? Am I such a sucker for hilariously bad stuff?
