I had problems to top up wallet - I wrote to support - they gave me a new Link (should be on the Site soon) where i was able to pay with every method - i took the paypal method - and support told me that I will get VAT back manually to my account - and yes after some hours they added to my wallet 20% VAT back - thats pretty customer friendly ๐Ÿค‘

I'll believe it when they actually add Paypal back on the site as a very transparent option for all users. For now they are sketchy, to put it in mild terms.

i got this message:

Hi,
Try this link:
https://sites.fastspring.com/exosyphen/product/dailyindiegamecomaccounttopup
It will soon be available as an alternate processor on our store.
There will be a VAT charge, but we will credit that amount to your account manually, as an extra.

after i deposit 5$ i got this message to my eMail:

$1 extra for the VAT, was credited to your account.

Maybe you dont know this:
If you own a game/license on steam you get as many steam keys as you like.
you have a game on steam as a developer - tell steam i want 10.000 keys - you will get it in a few days. and again 20.000 keys - no problem. so these Indie devs are happy to get many keys all the time to sell them everywhere.

to your question:
I think it happens on all sites that keys are not working. I was allways to lazy to write to support at fanatical or greenMan if keys were not working from my cheap 1$ bundles. And after you activate a key successfully there is not really a reason to worry.
All my DIG keys worked and stayed in my account!!!!1!

my son does have a game on Steam and what you said is not true whatsoever they have said no on more than one time

Lily - who i would trust 1 million times more than just about anyone has said they have had keys which they are not allowed to sell - i have no idea where or how these keys get out but trust me they have

also i did not say if a key was working or not i meant i know of times where people buy their keys and later on get it removed from their account because the dev/pub never gave them permission to sell them
https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/dailyindiegame.com - not very good reviews

Some years back DIG started a user-listed key resell market alongside its own official key marketplace. There was considerable overlap and it guaranteed the official store prices would always get undercut. So DIG bought out the user marketplace lump sum as its method of ending it and incorporated all the keys it had just acquired into its own DIG point marketplace. Obviously since it was a reseller marketplace some small number of those keys were dupes, used, scams, or revoked.

When I was clearing out the last of my DIG point balance before bailing on the site I ended up having to request replacement keys something around 4 times with the official marketplace/store or whatever they call it now. Bundles are supposed to be guaranteed new, but any marketplace keys still have the potential to be really old and invalid.

I've never had any issues with DiG even when I've had to write support. I always had a fix soon afterwards. Yeah, usually shiite bundles with hardly ever any +1's or card drops but in the end, they only cost pennies for what you get in most cases. Losing paypal doesn't help but in my case no problem.

As they say...if you don't like it, you don't have to buy it. Game on!! ๐ŸŽฎ๐ŸŽฎ

I'll try to sum up some DIG info taken from my experience of creating DIG threads for the past 4-5 years. This is by no means to be interpreted as you or nigelt74 shouldn't open DIG threads in the future - I know I will not.

The games DIG bundle fall into 4 categories:

  • Their own games: mostly adult games that they spam like crazy (around 213 games + DLCs as of now) and which they publish under different names EroticGamesClub, DIG Publishing, Lolita LineArt, exosyphen studios (only the latter are their original games, from the Hacker Evolution series)

  • Games that they buy from Russian key shops (instances of lequeshop), that they resell for 3 times the price - these constitute I'd say 90% of their bundle content; for these they do not have an agreement with the devs, but I guess most of them don't really mind that, since they rarely complain). I've spent a considerable amount of time tracking the quantities on these sites before and after a DIG bundle was released (will not post here logs, they're too long), and I saw a pattern that was common to most DIG bundles, namely that 2-3 days before a DIG bundle launched, the quantities on lequeshop featured in those bundles all decreased by the same amount (usually 50-100). So unless some other entity somehow buys the exact same games as DIG bundles 2 days later AND buys the same amounts from each of them, I don't see what other explanation could be apart from DIG just reselling these lequeshop games.

  • Humble Bundle games that are cheap on grey market, also selling them per their common pattern of 3x the price. They certainly do not have contracts with AAA companies to bundle their games, as Fanatical / Humble Bundle do. Funnily enough, they sometimes bundle games given away on Humble Bundle, probably botted by some other party (not necessarily DIG) and sold on grey markets or on lequeshop. These usually have expiration dates but the DIG owner is just too lazy to even check if these keys they bundle are even valid still.
    Examples:
    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/O7fLSnw
    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/WAhLrqR
    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/3Gni76g

    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/Ux6iSTF
    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/1FG4Lbl
    https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/ndeBXmz
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/Z0gzmzB (Headsnatchers: HB given away in mass, already expired by the time DIG decided to bundle it)
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/6yr5naY (Slay.one: HB given away in mass; you also have here one of the many examples of lequestop prices compared to DIG prices)

  • Games that they get from the developers. DIG spams emails to all developers that publish a new game, asking for 50-100 keys. A lot of these devs are already aware of the bad reputation that DIG has, but some of them fall prey to the idea that they could get more customers interested in their game if it's bundled. In reality, this just flags the game as "trash" because DIG bundles mostly... trash games. These cases are indeed contractual, DIG receives the keys from developers and sells them in bundles or on their marketplace, and they also open an account for that developer to cash out their revenue. I've talked to several developers that did agree to have their games listed on the DIG platform, and they pointed out that the revenue is extremely small (just a few cents per games) so overall it's not worth bothering. There were also some that confirmed the fact that they did NOT give any authorization to DIG to sell their keys (example Team Syukino games and the recently revoked Frag Grounds from DIG Weekly Bundle 208, which confirms again that DIG resells from somewhere.

Some other things to note:

  • DIG constantly swaps out games from bundles without any prior announcement; this happens sometimes to the extent that the full bundle gets replaced over time with new keys
  • Duplicate keys that could indicate that the keys they bundle are not coming directly from the developer / publisher
https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/5HTGVgd (I think Graffiti Games might actually be the only decent publisher that they have agreements with, but hat's just because they're desperate to bundle their games anywhere possible)
  • Key mix ups (the key activates a different game than the one advertised). Example: https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/PSdQMuu
  • Terrible customer support - many people (myself included) witness an increased degree of unprofessionalism in the customer support replies that they received from DIG. Some luckier ones didn't have to go through this ordeal of being insulted or threatened with their account being closed on DIG.
  • Already revealed keys disappear from your account after a while. It's part of DIG's routine to keep the database entries to a minimum, except... you don't get a notification to save those keys before that happens. If you ask for a list of games you purchased from them, they just send you a CSV with the key names but not with the corresponding game names, just to troll you.
  • DIG removing games as they see fit from your purchased ones, of course without any notice: https://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/r77uw1T
  • According to this thread, DIG deletes your account if you don't login for a year (probably without any prior notice)
  • My own post about why I don't want to spend time on creating threads for them any more

On the positive side, some people are happy customers and didn't encounter much issues with their purchases. While the sources of DIG keys are still questionable, some just don't mind that as long as they're cheaper than buying them directly from the Steam store. And lastly, collectors are usually happy to buy DIG bundles because of those rare-ish cases when DIG actually bundles a newly released game based on real agreements with the developers.

Thank You very much for your explaination
I am very happy that there is a 4th or 5th Bundle Site (1 or 2 Sites are really not much)
In my experience I had no Problems with DIGs chaos :-) I encountered worse at greenmangaming --> Imagine once I bought a bundle at Greenman and there were only keys without gamenames - didnt know which key was for what game :-)) hahaha

But here my main question: is it illegal to buy keys and sell them? because thats how business works. If you have a license to sell drinks you can go to the supermarket and buy coke and sell it at your place for twice the price - you dont need a contract with coke company

So I would be happy if there are 100 sites who buy keys and make bundles - we only have like 2 sites :-( hihi

would it be illegal to buy some cyberpunk2077 keys and bundle them without asking the devs?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

yes it is illegal and if you buy a multi pack of coke they say not to be sold separately

also it depends where you buy the keys for example if you bought the keys from Humble for example they state that it's against their tos to sell on their games

i can't believe you still support them after all Lily said now - also your happy to be ripped of by scammers it's up to you mate - but as you have seen here most people wouldn't trust dig

You're ignoring / brushing away a lot of unethical or illegal fuckery on DIG's side that you find GMG worse based on a single bundle experience (if I remember well, they did that with a random game bundle to begin with)

Depends on the country.

In the USA it is illegal: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernor_v._Autodesk,_Inc.
In Europe it's legal: https://www.worldcadaccess.com/blog/2012/07/autodesks-loses-battle-against-resold-software-in-eu.html

That said, no one in the USA cares enough about game keys to actually take someone to court over it. Autodesk court cases only happened because they're run by psychopaths who get a good chunk of their income from auditing/threatening companies that use their products.
