But why would an American organization run a promotion to solve worldwide dental problems? There are already plenty of those, but they address more important issues -- the Red Cross, DWB, WTO, IMF, UNICEF, etc. are all largely based out of the US or funded by Americans.

So the quintessence is: Americans hate foreigners! Especially American dentists hate us.

Well, PopCap didn't hate foreigners until EA bought them.

Popcap is moving to an EA Studio in Canada. So that can't be it.

EA bought popcap? The mass grave EA keeps filling is getting bigger and bigger, and there goes another epic company of developers. Fuck you EA.

American constitutes to North America (Canada, USA) Central America and South America.
Maybe America isn't worldwide, but it'd be nice to know the definition of America.
Especially since I'm in Canada.
And it doesn't work.

I'm not surpruised seeing as it is a EA game (they bought Popcap for those not yet aware) and EA usually does things in US but not for the rest of the wolrd, like the numerous Origin offers.

Comment has been collapsed.

Numerous EA offers in america? you mean a $20 off coupon and a free game from select 3?

Rest of the world got Burnout Paradise free, and Medal of Honor Airborne free, free Back 2 Karkand. These might not stack up to amerca as an exploit, but european countries been getting more deals

Where were those rest-of-world deals exacly? I'm in Germany and the best EA deal was like 50% off Fifa09. Okay Also EA's loves to overprice with their 1$=1€ shit, so it isn't a deal at all.
Simple example at their mainpage: Dead Space is 2,49€ at Steams sale and 4,99€ at Origins sale. Now tell me that this is a good deal.

It's an American company, and 90%+ of its profits are American. Come on, it makes perfect sense.

This is the same reason Amazon and Valve hold US-only promotions all the time too -- Americans have high incomes, low taxes, and there are 300m of them. It makes sense to appeal to them if you're running a company, since you kinda want their loyalty and ultimately their money.

And anyways, there are lots of promotions in other countries. It's just not as big of a priority if your country doesn't have as many people or as much expendable income.

Can you point to one such US-only promotion from Valve? Or one promotion from Amazon where they actually did something to people who faked being in the US?

Giving products away, at least for major corporations, has legal implications. It's easier to just hold these types of promotions by country (or state) rather than in multiple countries for the sake of it. Also, it's sponsored by the American Dental Association, so...

If you look at the TOS, it has special info for people in California for this very reason, but it's not like they could reasonably exclude the US's biggest state and run a serious promotion.

Just FYI, most contest rules are dictated by YOUR local government. So blame them if you wan to be upset at anyone...

I don't think EU would forbid a contest like this. Just a corporate decision.

I think the American Dental Association just assumed British teeth were beyond fixing. Aside from the Brits, I got nothing. As others said, it's the American Dental Association, not Worldwide Group for Good Teeth and Occasional Scams
