I like stealth games and all, but all the talk about the games "heavy story" and long cut-scenes is a turn off for me, I'm more of a gameplay person.

"I like stealth games"... You need to play the king of the genre. You can pass the videos and everything else, so you can also enjoy at least the gameplay. You will lost one amazing story and fantastic videos but at least you played with Snake and lived in Kojima world for a moment (the HD collection and MGS4 are really cheap nowadays so you should give it a try when you can) :)

i wouldn't consider the mgs series the king of the stealth genre. games like the older splinter cells and the thief series are much, much more deserving of that title.
and i agree with bloodemblem. the focus on story and cinematics has really ruined gaming. games are about gameplay

Any point you had was entirely negated by the idea that focusing on story could ruin anything, ever.

Thats the one...though I tend to favor that sorta gameplay over stealth usually.

Since I didn't start playing until the HD Collection came out, it doesn't really bother me, plus, with the exception of Peace Walker (and maybe MGS4, haven't gotten to it), I'm awful at them because of the control scheme. In any case, I'm mainly playing them for the story.

Ahh I see, I never followed it to well, played the first one a decade ago, then played the 3rd one....that was the last one.
But Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance looks pretty fun for a 3rd person action game, the sword cutting mechanic looks well done.

Game looks amazing, and supposedly open world to boot. Was running on a PC, but he swears the PS3 version will look about as good. And it's a prequel to MGS5? Sign me up now plz.

You played the games with Solid Sanke (missing only MGS4). Then you have MGS3 (ps2/ps3/psv) and PW (psp/psv/ps3) and this one for principal history with "Naked Snake". We only need to miss one game that Kojima will make impossible to follow hehe

but that the footage was indicative of what the PS3 version will look like, while indicating it's likely to be released for Xbox 360 and PC.

And a lot of new places woulda said that it's on PC. It's not on PC. PS3 and 360. It could change in the future but I don't see it happening.
