You choose 3 games you don't own. When a giveaway of that game is created you will be entered automaticly in this giveaway.

Restrictions:

  • Users that are offline for more than 48hours are ignored in this auto-entering process.

  • You must have ennough points on your account. If you don't have ennough points at the time it's created you won't be entered automaticly.

  • You can change the games you will auto-enter only once a month. (But you can disable/enable the feature at any time)

What do you think?

dislike, it would mean alot more entries from everyone, I hit 300 points all the time so waste quite a few points. which is kinda a good thing

I don't like this for the simple reason some people will see their points dissapearing or maybe they don't want to enter in some GA despite it beign on their wishlist.

The way I see it, you get free stuff, so the least you should do to earn it is to click and maybe say thanks.

pretty much the way I view this.

Well you could always have an auto-thanking message to set too. I mean it's a nice gesture and all, but when people parrot "ty" or "thanks" it kind of makes it a token gesture in the first place. It's nice but not much of a factor beyond taking the giveaways for grante- oh. Hmm. Yes. Automated thanking / lack of thanking could lead to people taking the charity for granted. Point.

Then again there are quite a number of people who don't thank anyway.
I think the automated system is more because some of us are scared of widgets and browser tools. Perhaps rather than an automated entry system, perhaps an auto-search. A little exclamation mark in your bar at the top, whenever a game from your short-list is currently being given away. The rest you'll have to do by hand.

Pretty sure there's been a script made for this and posted on the forums

In all seriousness, it's a lot of effort to log onto the site, read through people's giveaways and undertake the tiresome task of finding where that wretched green button has gone, in order to click on it. I find by the time I've done all this, I usually need to lie down, and barely have the energy to do anything else, let alone spend even more of my precious time typing messages of gratitude.

There just aren't enough hours in the day, and this sort of functionality is absolutely essential to keeping the community together, and the site running. I don't know how things have kept going for this long without it.

I'd like to see a function which automatically made forum posts for us, so that we didn't have to waste time interacting with each other.

You could set sliders (ranging from 0-10) for aggression, wittiness, trollery, veracity and informative content. These settings could be changed at any time. Automatic forum postings would cease for users who were offline for more than 48 hours.

Sounds useless. It's not like giveaways for specific games are made very often.

no good would come of this - the thing i like about SG is that it is so random, and you actually have to be here to participate in stuff and not just sign up and then go afk, if you get what i mean

No no no no no. Besides reasons already stated, there are often important descriptions on giveaways. Also SteamGifts Plus will highlight giveaways on your wishlist.
