I am going to make a train. When I started, SG told me I was able to make 69 giveaways based on feedback, etc. So I cut my train to 67 wagons to have a small margin. However, after making 36 wagons, SG tells me I can make 29 giveaways more, instead of 33 as maths would say. By the end, SG said I could make 12 more, but after the tenth I couldn't make more. Deleting less important giveaways didn't help, as they remain on my giveaway list until they end. They just show as deleted, but don't give me more giveaway space. So something is wrong in how many giveaways I can make, as I have now 59, ten less than SG initially told me. There's a bug around there.

I also tried beforehand to contact SG staff to temporarily increase my giveaway limit for this train but I closed the ticket after ten days without answers. Apparently some people have that option to open a ticket, but I didn't so I had to choose "other". Maybe one has to be a game dev to have that option available? I think everyone should have that option for making specially long trains.

If you have pending GAs (waiting for winner feedback), it makes the corresponding slots unavailable. If I remember well, a deleted GA would also "cost" you a slot, but it should be taken into account in the number displayed by SG, I guess.
By the way, nice avatar, I love this movie :)

I had no pending giveaways nor deleted giveaways when I started. 69 available slots, after making 36, 29 left. Maths didn't match and I had to cut down my train to 53, since as you say, deleting giveaways even before they start doesn't give you slots back.

One of my favourite movies and still IMHO the best scifi movie ever made. 2nd: Interstellar.

The error in your train of thoughts to me seems to be that you seem to be assuming deleting a giveaway would free up a slot. Instead what happens is that when you delete a giveaway, your available slots will be decreased by one. So when you deleted a couple of "less important giveaways", as you described above, you diminished your availble slots by that number.

First, the number of available slots didn't change after deleting them. It didn't increase slots as I thought, but it didn't reduce them either. I'm sure of that as I refreshed a lot and waited for a time to see if it would change. Second, it doesn't explain why when SG said I still had 12 left, I could only make 10. And that happened also before those last 12, calculations never matched after doing a batch of ~10 giveaways. And last, it doesn't explain why if I had 69, after doing 36 it said I could only make 29 more, instead of 33. That was before trying to delete to make more space, something I never did before.

Multi-copy giveaways definitely take up a "slot" for every copy (otherwise developers wouldn't need to ask for extra slots to make a single thousand-copy giveaway; and it does say "X additional gifts" rather than "X additional giveaways" on the giveaway creation page), so if OP has some multi-copy giveaways in their train, that would explain why the numbers don't add up.
If it's all single-copy giveaways though... well, then I have no idea what could be the cause. :/

Dunno, however I make the maths they don't work. E.g. the last time SG said I had 12 giveaways slots, I could make only 10, 10 giveaways with 14 keys. Slots were diminishing at a higher rate than I was making them since the beginning. After making the first 36 giveaways and deleting six, I was left with 30 giveaways made, with 33 keys and 29 open slots left. The total was 53 giveaways with 62 keys. Maths and calculations never matched, unless there's something that I don't know about how SG makes those calculations.

I just think there's something wrong in how SG calculates available slots. I don't mean "if SG says I have 69 slots, then I should have 69 slots". I mean that there's a bug in there, and if my limit is not 69 but 58, SG should report it accurately, be it for deleted giveaways or whatever variable that affects the "real" available slots against the "shown" ones. That is where I think the bug is. That miscalculation made me delete giveaways in hope but it didn't change anything, the shown slots never matched for three times with the ones I used, after I spotted the mitchmatch for the first time, counting or not the number of keys vs giveaways, or deleted giveaways.

I understand the SG staff does all they can, I'm grateful and not blaming them, "nobody's prefect". I'm only reporting what I think it's a bug that annoyed me big time.

Also, and IMHO, deleting giveaways that haven't started should make you recover your slot instantly, instead of hanging there (at least according to SG they didn't punish me). But that's something secondary.

I don't know if I've been the only one affected by this. But if now, surely it has affected other people who wanted to make trains with number of wagons too close to their slot limit.

I can understand that.

Then I can't see how SG told me I could make 12 gifts, and ended making 10 giveaways with 14 keys. No matter how I see them, what factors I take into account, my calculations never make any sense.
