Bump for a pretty awesome train.
And yeah, I'm totally fine with short adventure games - and even with relatively short RPGs (like The Banner Saga), just like with the long ones. It's a question of proper pacing of narrative, not of the sheer number of hours spent in a game.

i like short games because i'm not good at making the kind of commitment longer games need.

Ah, you rock Fredrik. I love long games to be honest, specially strategy/management ones so a game that has between 40 and 100 hours to complete the campaign/story is not something I find hard to swallow.

I'm totally with you. I care only about quality, not length. I hate games that pad our their length with boring repetition. Mafia 3 is a perfect example.
If a game ends and leaves me wanting more, that's good thing!
If I get bored before I reach the end, that's a problem. I should be enjoying playing your game, not wondering how much more I have to slog through before its over.

Suxx that I'm stuck with backlog because of the stupid data cap that I can't download too much stuff
I don't actually know which one I prefer but I'll probably go with sidequests if they're in the game

Shorter games > longer games because I tend to get distracted and start playing something else in the middle of longer games. Hello to the 200 or so games in the shame pile of unfinished games :(
Nothing that I can see myself having time or will to play in the next month, but have a bump for some great giveaways!

Oh shit.... Thanks for making me feel better about myself and best of luck with that pile! :P :D

it's better for a game to be as long as it needs to be, than pad out its length with filler content.
Agreed :) I actually prefer shorter, more linear games over the super-long ones with huge open worlds, because they often end up overstaying their welcome. Thanks for the train, entered a few giveaways (I'll be in quite a predicament if I happen to win one, with my procrastination and all, lol :D)

Nice selection of GAs! I entered two. :)
Thanks, and a bump!

As long as I enjoy playing it, I think a game is worth it whether it is long or short (or somewhere in between).:)
BUMP!

There are some people who like to measure the value of their games in how long they are compared to how much they spent. Personally I'm not a fan of this, I would much rather pay for a short game that's engaging all the way through, than a long game that's just engaging most of the time. Of course, everything has its limits, but I feel like it's better for a game to be as long as it needs to be, than pad out its length with filler content. Case in point, Mafia 3 would be a lot better if they had skipped the whole "take over the city" part, and just had the story missions. That's not to say that games should be short, imagine if Pillars of Eternity had been a 4h game, that would not have worked with that kind of story.
But here are some giveaways for some games that are not super short. Do note that I am asking something of you if you're winning one of these, so read the descriptions.
Reading is good
