Everybody saw that coming, right?

The only thing that prevented me seeking legal counsel for a long list of breach of contracts, interference with business, and anti-trust issues was the fear of losing my family's income. Since that has been taken away I am seeking legal representation

Yes, this is their official website, looks as good as their games

Well we have to admit that steam users can be often poisonous.
I never really understood all the hate for DH. I've tried out once Deadly Profits, and despite having a very basic gameplay, it was worth the 14 cents I paid it.
Probably I've missed some things

Then you should watch this before defending them - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6s0Wpn1zmU and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhjXfAikKaY

Not defending anyone, I just missed all the drama :)
What I wanted to say is that their games often end up in 1$ for 20 steam games bundle so despite being embarassing they might be worth 10 cents.
Anyway the dev is really an idiot for insulting reviewers, I can agree with steam decision

So they're actually going through with that. Even if I called it in the other thread I didn't fully expect term to go through with it.

And if they're suing Valve over breach of contract, Valve can hit back with the same. DigiHom has broken their terms of use a number of times, with ample evidence after all.

A jarring question bugs me:

DO DIGITAL HOMICIDE EVEN UNDERSTAND SUING AT ALL?

Comment has been collapsed.

No they don't.
Among other issues, they think a webshop that it based outside of their state and can ship to their state is capable of "doing business" in their state in the legal sense. Where worldwide that it completely false and decided by where the webshop's offices are based and taxes are paid.

They also - I'm not kidding or exaggerating - think "fair use doctrine" means that, in order for criticism to be protected under said doctrine, it has to be "fair." That is, that the criticism, itself, has to be nice and even-handed with its subject. They actually alleged Jim Sterling's mockery of "The Slaughtering Grounds" was not protected under fair use because it said "unfair" things like calling the game a "complete failure" (or some short phrase extremely similar to that). They could not even take a two second glance at Wikipedia to look up the term.

Bad publicity is still publicity.

I can only assume they're just trying to get some sort of 'settle' agreement that gets them a load of cash. Literally trolling for money.
I can only hope Gaben will stomp their nooby rage to the ground.

...a lack of resolution from Steam in regards to moderation of their platform...

They're the ones to speak! If Valve moderated the content, DigiHom's "games" would never have gotten on Steam in the first place!

Imagine a genius director who happens to be a raging anti-semitic ultra-right raving nutjob, and you'll get a portion of the general picture.

genius director?
That's WAY overselling it.

Man with the Brave Face is a mediocre drama
Braveheart is ok, a solid 7/19
The Passion of the Christ was pure hype
Apocalypto... haven't seen it
and I think there's another movie that he directed that was straight to video?

The Passion of the Christ is an accidental exploitation movie, entertaining, sure... but it doesn't scream "genius"

For being nothing more than a torture porn and a somewhat antisemitic propaganda (although not even nearly as much as some want you to believe), the directing is actually quite good, he used the film as a medium rather well. I don't like the movie at all, but it has some clever bits in it.

They are right regarding how terrible most of Steam's community is, and how Valve does nothing against them (as we discussed, that would need manpower and money) - but that's something between users, and Valve. A developer has nothing to do with that, as dev-Valve connection is different, so demanding same rights is not a reasonable thing. Everyone have to keep up the stuff they signed in the EULA/agreement when made their acocunt/published their games.

"but that's something between users, and Valve"

I'm definitely not a fan of dh and it's good that this shitgames are gone but(!) if a user threat a publisher/developer to kill him or anything like this, it is definitely between this user and the dev/pub.

The thing is, just because it's the internet it doesn't mean you can act like a total jerk and think this is anarchy. All the little kids that raging around the web should learn this. And if valve don't do anything against this, it is the right of every person to do something against it by themselves. This does not include sue someone because of a bad review ofc.

But things like "I want to murder every single person responsible for this" is just an absolutely no go

I agree - I just meant that it's Valve's role (and they do a terrible job at it) to deal with the user lash-outs. Valve ignoring it is not a reason for a developer to use it as a cover for their own stupid behaviour towards the community.
Personally I would be so much happier if they'd just vanish from the internet or make proper games, than to die... I have hard time understanding these pls kill yourself comments - ignoring something completely IS acting like they are dead for you, without making one look like a 14 year old edgelord - in my book ignoring is the worst treatment for something, and works out nicely for me :)
