Does anyone know of any games on Steam that are like FFT?

I love that game to death and I'd like to play some games that are similar to it.

Thanks in advance.

Mmm, I did a giveaway recently for the SEGA Classics Pack 4 which contains Shining Force 1 and 2. They're similar, though much slower in gameplay. Still great games though, and if you don't mind their age I'd look into them.

Shiningforce is not only one of the best rpgs of all time (and superior to FFT in one way in that you get up to 12 chars so much more flexible tac squads can be created) but it was also the name of my toon in WoW for a long time when i played lol.

Yeah, not a lot of those on Steam beside the Shining Force franchise. Nintendo DS has a bunch of those though. As well as Gameboy Advance. Fire Emblem Series comes to mind; also the Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (GBA) + Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift (DS).

i enjoy alot games like that too, but there are not many "know" on PC, even so I played all FF tactics, Fire Emblem.

For Steam i can think of right now: Kings Bounty and Grotesque Tactics.

You could also look at Jrpg for this kind of game.

This. Also Heroes of Might and Magic and Guardians of Graxia. But only for the tactical, chesslike combat. They are not exactly RPGs.

In a few months, The Banner Saga should come out. It will have a Tactical combat akin to FFT, though with much more chess style mechanics.

Not a Steam game, but there is an MMO tactical, called Wakfu. It's sort of cutesy, but a ton of fun for only $6 a month. It's being published by Square Enix, the (almost) same company that did FFT.

Hard to find these games on Steam. Only know of Grotesque Tactics and Sega classics like Shining Force.

Outside Steam, try Fire Emblem and Langrisser series.

Not on Steam, but I'm surprised that no one mentioned Tactics Ogre. That's the most similar game you'll probably ever find to it.

And better, in some cases. FFT is my favorite FF game, but I loved the Tactics Ogre series to death. Disgaea is also very good outside of Steam.

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together is the most similar game to FFT and it's equal awesome. I still have to finish it. Thanks for reminding me!.

I have Tactics Ogre LuCT on my PSP, it's pretty good, a little to much going on for me though, I prefer the smaller party tactics games, that's just my preference though. It's still a great game.

I also have the original Tactics Ogre (for the SNES) on my PSP as well. I've played through most of that already.

..did you try searching "tactics" on steam?... anyway,
Grotesque Tactics / sequel, Frontline Tactics, Fantasy Wars, Magic Tactics, Fallout Tactics, Shining Force 1/2,
and dont forget Panzer General 1/ 2, which you can find on GOG. I'd search there for more tactics games too.
Ones that i think are but havent played myself yet: Battlemass(desura), Defender's quest, UFO Afterlife, Freedom Force (3 games), Defender's Quest

oh yea, thats a bit more strategy than tactics, pg i would say tiptoes on the line but is really local maps with individual units, more of a tactics game. But thanks, and yea I had that game on my wishlist a while til i thinned it out, I thought it reminded me of one of my favorite games of all time, also made by SSI, called The Ardennes Offensive, which refuses to run on win7 without crashing within 1-5 minutes no matter what. most true/ realisted "front control" game i ever played. wish they would get that to GOG but its an almost unheard of title.

Non-steam, but still great games none the less.
Yggdra Union: We'll Never Fight Alone - GBA, but enhanced port with extras is on PSP
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 1/2 - DS
Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity - PS2
Phantom Brave - PS2 and Wii. Not sure if the Wii version brings extras.
La Pucelle: Tactics - PS2

If just having some turn based grid combat is what you need, maybe play that avadon the black fortress sitting in your library with 0 hours, and then try the other games from that publisher if thats what you are looking for.

Thanks for all the great suggestions guys(and girls if there are any o_O) I think I'm going to go with Shinning Force for the Genesis classic system on Steam, I was lucky enough to receive a gift from an awesome member of this site (who will remain nameless so he doesn't get spammed :p), he knows who he is and how awesome he is. :D

Thanks again everyone, you've given me a lot of games to look forward to after I've finished Shinning Force.

If you just look for the stuff outside steam (like most people recomend) look for "srpg" titles like Front Mission.

There are almost none srpgs on steam as many people mentioned here. You should specify what about FFT you like.
