Hello,

I need advice about trading cards, I've been told one card does not equal one other card, expecially when it comes to TF2 cards being easy to obtain ad infinite if people create several steam accounts.

My question is specifically this : what can I trade a Borderlands 2 card for ? I have one in double and want to be sure of its value before putting an announce on steamtrades.

I've read that Maya cards were a bit rarer, so I assume a Maya card = two other Borderlands 2 cards ?

The one I have in double is Axton so I'd like to know what you guys think I should ask for it . Thanks !

edit : you guys answered my question. thanks a lot ! closing now.

All the BL2 cards are valued the same, expect foil cards. All of them have the same drop rate.

And no, you can't just create several steam accounts to get TF2 cards, you need to spend at least 9€ in the TF2 shop to get 1 card drop.

Basically all non-TF2 are valued the same. So people are trading HL2 cards 1:1 to P2 and BL2 cards. At least this is my opinion on the cards and my view on what I've seen on ST.

Thanks a lot for the answer about Borderlands 2 cards !

But about TF2 : I only bought a 0.39€ item (which at the time someone told me it was the chepest item on TF2 store) and got the cards dropped ? And it's not the first time that I read this but I really only spent 0.39€ and got five cards.

were you a premium player in TF2 before you bought the item?

No, not at all. So what's with this 9€ thing ? Can you confirm ?

It's because TF2 is a Free Game. When you bought the item, you were turned into a premium player therefore you get card drops which is limited to 4-5 (I had 5 drops). The only way to get more cards is to buy them at the market or buy an item worth 9 bux.

Oh, okay, this is THE answer to my case, I think. I thought you needed 9€ to start having drops while actually (what you say and what happened to me) you make any purchase and get 5 cards, then can get the rest of the cards with 9€ of purchases.

"Free to play games drop game cards based on your in-game purchasing. For every $9 USD spent (approximate) since the start of the Steam Trading Card Beta, you will earn one card drop. This card will drop at some point as you play. If you have made in-game purchases in Dota 2 or Team Fortress 2 prior to the Steam Trading Card Beta, or if you owned Team Fortress 2 prior to the Free to Play update, you will have 4 or 5 additional card drops available."

You must have bought that item before the beta began. I haven't bought anything from the shop either but I had orange box,(which comes with TF2 premium) before the beta began so I got the 5 card drops as well.

I'm positive, I have only one purchase in TF2 and I did it specifically for the cards as I don't play TF2 (yet) and don't have any interest in its items. If I could consult a log of my purchases or something like that I'd post it here so you can check it out but really, no more than 0.39€.

If someone here yet has not switched to "premium" I advice he tries to buy only the 0.39€ item and sees what happens.

5 is the drop number you're supposed to have. If you payed $9, you would have additional drops.

Portal 2, Dota 2 and Half-Life 2 cards are valued the same, but CS:GO, Borderlands 2 and Don't Starve cards are worth more.

Yup, I think Don't Starve cards and BL2 cards are the most valuable. CS:Go is just a bit more valuable than Portal 2, but about the same as HL2.

I think HL2 is between Portal 2 and CS:GO, but there's only a tiny difference here.

Probably this is the correct ranking: Don't Starve = Borderlands 2 > CS:GO > Half-Life 2 > Portal 2 = Dota 2 > TF2

Thanks for the advice but I prefer asking what's the tendancy in trades because I don't plan on buying on the market, or selling either.

Card value, as well as any other kind of value in this type of "market" is assessed by the market itself: after some time, a card's value will become the maximum amount a random buyer will be willing to spend for it.
