Buffy the Vampire Slayer then! It is by far the best show I've ever watched and I'd recommend it to anyone.

I could write a whole page about how brilliant, funny, sad, tragic and interesting it all is but it's 1 AM and I really have to get back to revision so I'll just link you to this and come back and add my own stuff later if I can remember to. But seriously, watch it, it's good.

These are all current. There's also an odd Russian show called The Day After that I enjoyed - only one season out in the West so far, with terrible terrible subtitle translations - and a weird fun cyberpunk noir show called Charlie Jade from South Africa from the early Noughties, one season only. Both of those were a good watch too.

Some Bruce Campbell a lot of people have missed! First episode is the weakest IMO but the show is awesome.

I really loved Skins, and currently watching Twin Peaks with girlfriend - only 3 episodes into it out of the 30 but it looks incredibly good, and it's extremely well-received, though it's old, as it's from 1990. Worth a check though I think :)
