If the multi will be alive again I would be acquiescent. For campaign, naaah indeed.

I would agree with you, but only if one actually paid for the original version and didn't get it for free. To expect otherwise is not reasonable.

Maybe like Dark Souls Remaster ? I buy both and don't think they must be free.

Well they were giving out the original game for free at some point so they are probably not in a hurry to gave out this version as well.

How much does it come out to on your end? I already "pre-purchased" it a while back for 9,99€ and I don't see a "discount" as of right now. Perhaps I did so back then, I don't remember.

That's the discount.

Pre-Purchase Sniper Elite V2 Remastered UPGRADE FOR ORIGINAL OWNERS
Only available for customers who previously purchased the original Sniper Elite V2.
USD 9.99
Steam Database (353721)

Pre-Purchase Sniper Elite V2 Remastered
USD 31.49 (10% OFF) - ($34.99 Full price i guess)
Steam Database (212411)

(9.99 x 100) / 34.99 = 28.54 <- of the full price, it mean that the pre purchase price for original owners is reduced about 70% (70% OFF) vs the pre purchase price for no owners. ;)

Sniper Elite games are my guilty pleasure. Actually, forget the "guilty" part, they're pretty decent games as it is. Though, you should know that SE2 is pretty linear and straightforward compared to previous games. Kinda surprised they didn't remaster the first one, would love to see it with updated graphics and achievements.

Well ain't this just the cutest delusion. :)

"Pay 10€ for a lighting update and upscaled textures. Textures, which you could already access from the original game!"

If you want to do less work and basically rework an old game to breathe some new life into it and get new buyers, then fine. But you need to have some balls to gouge your existing userbase for an extra tenner for the privilege of playing their updated game again. Have a different subcode if you want, but at least give it for free to those who bought it.

Of course, they have the right to do this and we aren't entitled for the free update. But in that case, let's be completely fair and say outright that they aren't entitled to anyone's money for a second time just because they updated their minor visuals aspects and called it a "remaster". Either they give it for free to the original owners and you get the right to call this half-assed excuse of a remaster a new product or you don't give it for free and you actually do something to earn the right to call it a "remaster". See, they actually had something to remaster: Sniper Elite 1. Put it on their current engine, actually remaster all of the visuals to Sniper Elite 4 levels at a minimum, inherently updating the gameplay as well. That would be a remaster.

So yeah, it's adorable that these brainlets actually think they made a remaster. From me they receive a middle finger and a couple months of casual mockery.

Fuck, hey, to add to this garbage fire, here's their own article: Sniper Elite V2 Remastered - 7 Reasons to Upgrade!

To sum it up, these are the points:

  • "Incredible "Remastered" Visuals"
  • Photo mode
  • 8 new characters (skins)
  • All DLC included
  • Multiplayer/Co-Op

Now, if you're a sharp pencil, that's 5, not 7. Also, one of them is a feature that was in the original game (Multiplayer/Co-Op)

What a joke.

I'm still hesitant to purchase it, I like the SE series and seems good price with discount, but Rebellion is damn Scrooge McDuck

Scrooge could at least count.

I like the SE series as well (at least 2 & 3 were good), but you can just enable supersampling and you've basically got the same thing without the enhanced lighting engine.

Who else thinks that these Sniper Elite games are just mediocre indie games that pretend to be triple AAA titles

To be fair, the bar for both mediocre indie game AND AAA games are kinda low. Sniper Elite III and IV aren't that bad, I had some fun and it was made for stealth play, otherwise it's more boring. There's nothing spectacular about it that's all, technically you can say that about half of the "AAA" games. Charging for a Sniper v2 remaster is a dick move though, one can play Sniper IV - which has been in a humble monthly already - and not miss much.

I don't like that paid "remaster" trend. Soon, they'll start selling us remasters of remarsters.

Mostly to bring these titles on newer consoles. It's cheaper profit. But mostly for PC users not always useful.
70% off okay, but still 10€ $ for a little bit better looking game. But not bad looking game.
