I know you know this already but Microsoft has altered their skydrive usage terms. They only give 7GB free now. So if you have a Windows Live ID I suggest you login and apply for the free upgrade to 25GB.

Also with windows 8 having the app built in one would naturally be using this free service so why not grab your 25 GB without the need of paying for it in the future.

More Details Here

And Here

Note: You need to have an existing account with files before April 22 to be eligible for the upgrade.

Edit2: It seems you can upgrade without existing files too.

Welp, thanks for the heads up I suppose.

I never used SkyDrive and probably will not now, but who doesn't have a damn Live account these days. Might come in handy at some point.

Thanks for the heads up!

I did not use it but there was only an empty "documents" folder on it, so I got the extra space, muhahahaha. Not sure whether it was a bug or I'm a genius and I forgot that I made this folder!?

I remember making a SkyDrive account or whatever some time ago because it was said to offer a lot more storage than dropbox. Wasn't simple to use like Dropbox so I didn't use it. Just logged in and got the 25gb. I wonder if I'll make use of it this time.

So far there is something I don't like. With Dropbox folder on my computer, I can right click a file and create a link to it and paste that somewhere. It's quick and simple. SkyDrive doesn't work that easily. Looks like I have to open my browser and log into the site and find the file, THEN I can create a link to it :\

They have a native client now so it will function the same way as dropbox if not better when Windows 8 hits the PCs

Note (required MS Word):

I just activated the space. Maybe you want to add the 25 GB as a network device (Windows 7). So do the following:

//translation maybe not matching exactly, use your brain ;)
Check your Windows Live ID under your Systemsettings, users accounts, and there "link Windows-IDs"
Make an word file on top level of your Skydrive.
Open your Skydrive in your browser. Click on your word file. Click "Open with Word".
Click "data" and "save as". Copy the link in the top the saving window. (it should end with an numbers-letters-combination)
Close Word and Right-click on "Network" in the startmenue. Click "Connect networkdevice".
Use a letter for your device, e.g. Z:
Click on the blue link in this window and when asked paste the link from the word document in there
You may need to type in your Windows-Live-ID
Done. Skydrive should now appear as device Z:

I had an existing account, but I don't see an upgrade option anywhere. Where would it be?
