tl:dr version: Guy https://www.facebook.com/Michaelskalhjem hospitalized in accident in another country. A cool guy http://steamcommunity.com/id/sjanten22 who works for a game company wants to do something to help him by making something like a new bundle. If you know of any way to reduce the time/resources required for that to happen (through connections or word of mouth), that would be awesome!

The long version: Just bringing attention to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjv-k0__L8Y. I'm normally not the type to make these sorts of topics, but it seems appropriate and Bozar could probably use some help getting everything together. He's the community manager for the company that made Interstellar Marines (zero point software). You can see him in the middle with the pug http://steamcommunity.com/games/236370. If everything gets rolling they will be one of the devs participating.

These things are the only time I move sliders to 100% charity personally. I'm not asking you to donate (while that's cool, I don't think the injured dood has a site up. It's all been by mobile pay so far), I'm just saying that maybe if you can help out with the project somehow. A developer friend that would be interested in participating in that new bundle idea, or if you have web skills, or some ideas for an event/how they could go about it, or places this could get an appropriate audience. Networking with him to help get it done faster would be great.

It's also not just about 1 guy, even though he obviously needs the help. Whatever results from this might be useful for other people in similar situations. What if you could petition a site like Humble Bundle for support if your friend or relative got into an accident? Groupees has done it once that I recall. There's some potential in this and I think it would only benefit the community. And if you don't care about the charity, then you at least get a good deal on games and someone gets helped in the process. Getting the traffic there will be the easy part.

The only problem with not using an official charity is that HiB won't get any of their money back. One of the main reasons these bundle websites include charity options is to make people feel better about giving their money over. At the end of the year, these websites get to claim charitable donations for every cent that went to these charities and the government will return half of their money with their tax statements. So unless you can make your foundation official, these bundle companies won't look your way.

Insightful. I never thought about it that way, but that's why I said 'like Humble Bundle'. Though my reasons were that they wouldn't even look your way solely for not being significant enough and not because they didn't make money back on you. That just brought a whole new dimension to my view of them.

Their charities are typically not very reliable either (as in what do the charities actually do with your money). I agree with looking into groupees. I've been more impressed by their charities in general.

imo the only way to gurantee a donation is helping somone is to walk up to them as it were and hand over the readies, everything else is gambling a couple of your dollars/pounds/stone rings etc somehow help somone somewhere, at any rate charity is a bonus from buying cheap games when it comes to bundles for me, and i buy crap in charity shops for much the same reason

Doesn't take long to research a charity, and I actively seek good charities because I hate the idea that my money is just ending up in some fat cat's wallet.

EDIT: One simple rule I have is that the charity must release its tax documents. If they aren't proud of the way they are spending their money then its easy to assume they're sleezy.

One solution is to find a bundle owner that operates outside of the states. But then there will be trust issues.
