Dude - real life is like war. You must be prepared... They all want to hurt you.

I wonder how many blacklists you got for this thread! LOL
This site has changed somewhat since the inclusion, but it is a good feature for the 'just' reasons!
Comment has been collapsed.
No, just no. I feel like this would increase the amount of "blacklists drama" on this website (I've noticed it has gotten pretty bad already).
Comment has been collapsed.
Still, I wouldn't mind this feature. Either this by going all-out with the blacklist, or remove the ability to put people on blacklist altogether. This half-assed current one feels more like a tool to let people revel in their own glory of how great they are for blacklisting people and denying them… whatever without the other one knowing about it. It's like kindergarten…
Comment has been collapsed.
What's the reason? Maybe I'm the exception because I don't blacklist one for personal reasons, only for rulebreaking / bad manners (ie cussing and swearing), and not for not agreeing with me. Yet, I've got over a hundred people on my blacklist because most of them thought that they can get away with gifting their wins away, winning multiples for games, etc. Some people make a prestige choice about blacsklisting - both putting people on their blacklist or crying about being blacklisted (while in 70-80% there's an obvious rule-breaking is the reason)
Also, in a little more silenced tone - how stupid some users are? I've seen users who started attacking one for blacklisting them (70-to-1 leechers while owning several non-bundled AAA games) because they couldn't enter for his a,: bundled junk b, level 2 limited giveaway. They were LEVEL 1. Another people are complaining about being blacklisted by someone who doesn't even make giveaways...
IMO we need blacklisting. We need a more mature approaching to it, but we need it. If a central, SG-level change could help, it would be the one to make blacklisting work to and fro.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, it has i'ts ups and downs. That's a fact.
In my situation I heard that I was blacklisted for "rule breaking"
1'st, my noob time on SG not activating a game "fortix"
2nd re,winng a game I already won (considering I gorgot about the other enrty on a private group)
3rd, fals accused of not activatina a game which I was already playing.
You can check my profile, I'm "trying" to be a fair trader (at least with the things I have in my hands)(with still no negative votes), trying my best to gift people even when I'm not even that rich.
and I still can get on the blacklist.
I'm pretty sure that after this I'm getting on several other blacklists for "rule breaking". So since we have a blackist thingy I'd at least would like to hava change to see who blacklisted me instead of "asing every time why I'm blacklisted".
I'm not whingin about being on a backlist. I get the ones I see too on my blacklist since they already got me. So why should I give him "any chance" to be able to participate on a GA while I can't get on his/hers.
In my opinion, since we have a blackslit whitelist dilemma, we shoudl have a least a chance to see who got me on it...
Or maybe there should be thing like you should have to tell the mods "why you put someone o a blacklist" than at least people wouldn't get people on their blackslist anytime they want mostly randomly. ?
Comment has been collapsed.
i just blacklist people i don't like, why is that so bad?
i don't even add rule-breakers to my blacklist since they are being suspended for infractions. i just block people that are rude, hostile, ungrateful and trolling in the forums. i don't want to have contact with them, even less letting them win my GAs.
Comment has been collapsed.
Alright, answer me this.
Why is wanting to know who blacklisted you more mature in any way?
Seems childish to me to want to know who blacklisted you. If you're blacklisted, the user has their reason to do so, even if it seems unfair to you... It's really none of the blacklisted user's business why or who blacklisted them.
Either way will seem like "kindergarten" depending on one's point of view. :P
Comment has been collapsed.
Mature? No, not really. Fair. So far blacklist is one-sided. You exert some form of control over another person by denying him/her something without even the courtesy of informing the person that you have used some form of restriction against them. Not even dictatorships do that.
Comment has been collapsed.
This, i sometime want to enter random hidden\puzzle giveaways, and then i get to the blacklist screen, while i didn't even know why did the creator blacklisted me.. -.- At least cg should make blacklist work that you need to write a reason for the blacklisting -> blacklisted member sees that instead of just "you're blacklisted by the giveaway creator"

This is going to get really confusing when I get blacklisted by you for talking about blacklist, and then you blacklist me, but then i blacklist you in return and complain about being blacklisted, so you remove me, and then I have to remove you and then I would have to say thanks for not being blacklisted anymore, and then you would blacklist me... Blacklist (there, now it's an even number)
Comment has been collapsed.
If you don't know if someone has blacklisted you how can you be curious about someone doing so. O_O
This feels very much like a tree falling in the woods kind of scenario. :s
Maybe not to worry so much or maybe make your SG profile is a shining example to us all so no one wants you on their blacklist.
Comment has been collapsed.
seriously though. This would turn SG into a much more hateful community!
Comment has been collapsed.
Some users blacklist you for breaking rules; some blacklist you just for thinking you've broken rules, some blacklist you because they think your ratio/profile/giveaways/avatar/name isn't good enough to their liking and in the end SG users can and will blacklist you for just about any reason they can conjure up.
Also what I noticed is that users that are very liberal with the blacklisting are mostly users with (very) high CV levels.
Comment has been collapsed.
The superiority that stems out of your kind or reasoning is not only disturbing but it's also one of the causes that there's a very liberal (mis)(ab)use of the blacklist feature and the resulting retaliating eye for an eye kind of blacklisting on a massive scale on SG. I've seen loads; kinds of " custom rules " like you call them and most of them not only suck but they also push a lot of SG users in one kind of corner.
Those kind of stupid, infantile and megalomanic rules made by some SG users are antagonizing the whole SG community .
When I eventually will have a high CV level I really hope I won't be a d-bag like some (very) high CV levels that will conjure up petty, superioric and infantile "custom " rules to " avoid a certain public " If you want to avoid people that in your eyes are not worthy of your giveaways there are other ways...
Comment has been collapsed.
Please check that you are speaking for the whole SG community before telling people what is antagonizing the whole SG community. I find that kind of superiority disturbing.
Comment has been collapsed.
This is a discussion forum; if one SG member can speak for the SG community why can't another speak for it? Or is this just a case of one high CV member coming to the rescue of another high CV member?
Comment has been collapsed.
Just because this is the discussion forum it doesn't mean you can tell people what is antagonising all of us when not all of us actually agree. At least not without some comment.
I haven't even checked either of your CV. I just found your assumption slightly arrogant. And I found it slightly hypocritcal that you were presuming to know what all of us thought after complaining about other users 'superiority'.
That is all.
Comment has been collapsed.
As some of the (very) high CV levels members you are using 2 different sets of scales. I posted my " opinion " to another members " opinion " wich opinion that I find antagonising and disconcenting.
I find it strange that your only posting on my post and not to the post of someone that want's to wipe the (very) liberal use of the SG blacklisting feature under the rug with words like " the more you give the demanding you get " and " being understandable they starting the use of custom rules to avoid a certain public ".
I find your use of 2 weights and 2 measures most hypocritical...
Also i didn't wright about other's users superiority i wrote about their rules: " some (very) high CV levels that will conjure up petty, superioric and infantile "custom " rules to " avoid a certain public "
I really think SG should ban custom rules al together. As I said " If you want to avoid people that in your eyes and your mind are not worthy of your giveaways there are other ways ".
Comment has been collapsed.
The only thing that I was commenting on was you claiming to know what the whole SG community thought when you said "those kind of stupid, infantile and megalomanic rules made by some SG users are antagonizing the whole SG community".
You telling somebody what was antagonising the whole of the SG community was not you posting your 'opinion' - that was you claiming to know the opinions of the rest of us. Including me.
Mullinx never claimed to be speaking for me or the whole SG community. Mullinx simply said what would be understandable for some users given their experiences.
I would only be at fault for judging things by 'two different scales' if two people had done the same thing and I was only complaining about one them. Which was not the case. You claimed to be speaking on behalf of me and the whole SG community and the other user did not. So it was not hypocritical when I commented only on you claiming to know what the whole SG community thought.
You did appear to write about other users superiority when you said "the superiority that stems out of your kind or reasoning is not only disturbing but..." and that is what I was referencing.

Oh, what a shock, your defending your "kind" again.. How surprising...How predictable...
Whatever ticks your clock man as long that I don't turn out to be like one of you 2 beauties...

Yet another high CV level to the rescue...
I guess guys like you are not used to getting their change back from low CV levels...And again as the other beauties your to blind and to biased to see the insulting initial " apartheid "post " of Mullinix.

Just because you're upset about being blacklisted, or whatever has set you off, doesn't make you the noble, oppressed victim of an evil, ruthless cabal of generous users. Tone down the rhetoric, doofus. You sound like a 14-year-old who just learned the world doesn't actually revolve around him and is offended by the injustice of it. Give it a rest.
Comment has been collapsed.
I was not "High CV level" when I started objecting to people who were rude, so your assumption about it being due to my high level is incorrect. When SG switched over to the new system, I was your current level, and I blacklisted rude people.
I was also commenting about your way of expressing yourself, not on Mullinix. I can see what you mean, but I do find your way of expressing yourself to be far more insulting, treating "high CV people" like a big homogeneous group, and making blanket statements about people, and it looks like you are trying to create an air of antagonism between "low level" and "high level" people.
Comment has been collapsed.
I said/wrote " some " (very) high level CV users in my initial post so it's you that is generalising.
Also I'm not trying to get antagonism between low and high SG users because it's already there, maybe you don't know it, maybe you don't want to know it but it's there long already...
And it doesn't help in ones post to say : to avoid certain public
Comment has been collapsed.
I said/wrote " some " (very) high level CV users in my initial post so it's you that is generalising.
That was not the only thing you wrote though. You are talking about "your kind" in the context of high level people. Also, your original post said "mostly", not some "Also what I noticed is that users that are very liberal with the blacklisting are mostly users with (very) high CV levels."
Also I'm not trying to get antagonism between low and high SG users because it's already there, maybe you don't know it, maybe you don't want to know it but it's there long already...
If this was a wikipedia article, it would say "Citation needed". See also wbarton's post above.

let's also explain it here
to avoid certain public
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm really not sure what point you are trying to make.
Are denying that you were telling people what was what antagonising the whole of the SG community, including me, which is all that I was commenting on? I can post a screenshot if it would help.
I did not realise that I was 'defending my kind' in commenting on this. I did not even realise that Mullinx was 'my kind'. I have neither said that I condone or condemn comments by Mullinx - I have simply refuted your own bizarre allegations.
I am shocked that simply by commenting on an objectionable statement by yourself I have become embroiled in a paranoid conspiracy theory with myself and my behaviour being attributed to mysterious persecutors...

dont want to disturb your discussion but can i know why you blacklist me? what did i do wrong? Im just asking this because i go see your profile and saw GA but when i tried to enter that say you blacklist me...
Im not beggin to be remove of your blacklist just want ot know ;)

It was for making giveaways for games that had just been given out free. It is one of the things that really winds me up when there is a free giveaway and people miss out because of people trying to exploit it.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you talk about Syberia i didnt know it was given for free and as soon that someone let me know that i deleted the GA http://imgur.com/cAA4fBX

" SG users can and will blacklist you for just about any reason they can conjure up. "
Btw he probably didn't even take into account that you weren't aware about Syberia being put onto the bundles list but he probably only thought youve broken general SG rules or any of his own conjured up petty rules...
You always have the choice to return the favor concerning blacklisting....
Comment has been collapsed.
It wasn't anything to do with the bundled list. At least pay some attention to the facts.

No i wont do that Lost. I was only asking why. Im not playing to this game of you blacklist me and i do the same.... By the way i think he will never notice i blacklisted him and he wont care about that

As I said Munchies, you have the choice aka it's up to you.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, and rather than speculating wildly about my 'conjured up petty rules' if you are ever bored you may wish to take a look at this topic. It was mostly posted as puzzle hiding a train of giveaways for users of all levels - but I was also entirely open and clear about why and when I blacklist people.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes. It was that Syberia giveaway that was one of several dozen that suddenly and mysteriously appeared within minutes of an announcement about free Syberia keys.
Comment has been collapsed.
I just saw that a lot of people post the game here and i had the game as a gift not a key
Comment has been collapsed.
So you had a gift that you bought that you were trying to make a giveaway with and then after you had to close that you also had Syberia keys that you were selling in your trade thread? As well as the gift you mentioned? Because your trade thread clearly said Syberia keys that you would send by PM?
Comment has been collapsed.
i post that the same day its true but that was after i know the game was given for free and contacted support. i manage to get 5 keys so why i didnt GA at least 3 of them?
EDIT 1: And i take the gift for me...
Comment has been collapsed.
Well we could argue about the other stuff, but given that my actual problem was with some users exploiting free giveaways while others miss out I don't think it is going to get much better after you said you grabbed 5 keys....
Comment has been collapsed.
plus instead of keeping the GA open i choose to contact the support to close it
Comment has been collapsed.
you seem to take everything for granted in steamgifts. people give away games because they want to, and they have the right to pick who can have a chance at it.
think of it anyway you want. high-level elitists, people with delusions of grandeur, discriminating behavior, etc.
or maybe, just maybe.... i might be tired of regifters who can't read the rules, fake accounts that win gifts and disappear to resell them, ungrateful people that don't even bother to say thanks, homophobic/racist comments in the forum, toxic behavior, trolls, beggars.
if there wasn't a way to filter out all those individuals, i wouldn't even think of giving away stuff here.
Comment has been collapsed.
I understood your bottom line:
In the end SG users can and will blacklist you for just about any reason they can conjure up.
Comment has been collapsed.
You forget the rest of your post:
the more you give, the more demanding you get.
also, some have been around for a long time and/or experienced a lot of ungrateful users, it's understandable they started to use custom rules to avoid certain public.
Comment has been collapsed.
ah, and back to the start.
let me explain exactly what i meant, so you don't start assuming stuff:
the more you give, the more demanding you get.
i started in this site from the bottom like any other user. after giving away more than 100 games, i started to experience issues. some examples:
also, some have been around for a long time and/or experienced a lot of ungrateful users, it's understandable they started to use custom rules to avoid certain public.
this expands what i said above.
so, in short, instead of letting everyone join my GAs which would give me a headache instead of satisfaction, i can blacklist unwanted users who doesn't deserve my kindness/games/time.
is that so hard to understand and accept?
Comment has been collapsed.
Well i give you that this post of you now has a whole other tonality than your initial post.
Comment has been collapsed.
Should people not be able to choose who they give games to?
I normally blacklist people I encounter behaving in a rude or hostile manner in discussions, I wouldn't want these users to win one of my giveaways.
Comment has been collapsed.
"...and in the end SG users can and will blacklist you for just about any reason they can conjure up."
This is exactly what I'm talking about. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think it's a neat and useful feature, I just think it gets abused way too much. Okay, nobody can really judge who deserves it and who doesnt, but some of the reasons people get blacklisted are just plain absurd.
Comment has been collapsed.
Can't we just make blacklists bi-directional? So people will know on whos blackilst they are and in the same time they will think twice before overusing this function?
yeah i'm talking about this too much, probably on few more blacklists because of that xD
Comment has been collapsed.
You mean this isn't the case already? Jeez, you gotta do is click on every username in Users and any of those that have giveaways and if it says you are blacklisted, well then... there you go.
That's how I got my blacklist up to max!
My blacklist is not at max and most of this was sarcastic.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think is 2000, not sure really
it may be that or 1000 either way I think there's people that have reached the limit too
Comment has been collapsed.
There were people that were dissatisfied with the 1000 entries limit because their blacklist for SGv1 already had more entries than that.
Comment has been collapsed.
the only thing you do with lv requirement GAs is filtering out more % of rule-breakers, since less people will be able to win and (MOST) legit users are in higher levels.
there's always the drawback of leaving outside some good people that can't climb up to the next level or users that just joined SG...
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, this is my problem with low level giveaways. Sometimes I make a giveaway with no restriction - and it ends up rerolled 3 times with regifters, then at the end a level 1 wins it who gave away 2 game while won 60, for example. I think if next time I'll want to do something like that, I'll look out for one of the dedicated groups.
Comment has been collapsed.
Actually, this feature has already been implemented since the beginning of SGv2, but not many users know about it. Follow these steps:
Comment has been collapsed.
Number of entries was removed from profiles with the big site update presumably because of the minor amount of grief it caused amongst the community occasionally. If you really want to make blacklists totally publicly available, good luck. There's no way something that would cause that much strife would be implemented.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well ... you just got yourself into a big trouble with that ratios ...
Comment has been collapsed.
I'd rather not know who blacklisted me, plus you find out eventually who has... It would just cause fights, even with people finding out it causes grief :(
