If you have 300 in your wallet, 30 is not that much, but if theres only 32 dollars, 30 is a decent sum =)
I hope that explains =)

I mean that's what I'd pay for it. But you know, I'd totally pay 60 bucks for dark souls 3

I think even $30 is too much for mindless shooting/grinding.

Edit: Games in general are too expensive as thez were 15y back. Nowdays some go up to $100 or even more, but as long as people are willing to pay that much... they will go higher and higher.... because they just can.

Max i would pay for a good game is ~$20.

Games were, if you take inflation into account, more expensive 15 years ago, if you go by USD, €, £ or SEK (and probably plenty of others). Games should be 37% more expensive if they followed inflation, going by USD. Half-Life 2 (not quite 15 years ago, but almost) had a launch price of $49.95. That would be a release comparable to COD today in terms of size, and COD has a launch price of $60. Had COD actually followed inflation, it would have cost $64 (and yes, I used inflation starting with 2004 to calculate that, which is about 28%). Collector's editions don't count when you do a comparison, as here you're comparing vastly different things.

And you only need to go back to the mid 90's to find PC games that costs upwards to $80... (the multi-CD games).

So yeah, they've gone lower, not higher.

Really ? Hmm...

Back then i remember buying Baldurs Gate, MDK, Civ 2, MechCommander, Nox, Starcraft, Diablo1, Baldurs Gate 2... for only few $/€ .... from $7 - $15. And they were all physical copies in a box with books and stuff. (which i still have all of them :) )

I remember getting HL with some nvidia geforce card back in 1999. :)

For a digital copy, prices nowdays are "thru the roof".... at least for me. But that doesent count for all the games.

Launch price is the only time you can get a proper lock on. I payed 5€ for BG, but it was 3 years after launch, and the store was trying to get rid of leftover stock. You can still find leftover stock silly cheap if you look around. I got 3 copies of Pillars of Eternity not long ago for 10€ each.

Diablo 1 had a release price of $50, that's $78 in today's money. Its expansion had a release price of $40, or $62 in today's money. The expansion for Diablo 1 would set you back more than a brand new COD title does today. So yep, prices have gone down by a good bit. According to a magazine I have here, Under a Killing Moon had a launch price of 750 sek. If we calculate what that would be in today's USD value, that would be $111 USD. If we assume that they did the whole 10SEK = $1 back then (which they mostly did, back when the USD was stronger) that would be $122. Under a Killing Moon is one of those games that were really expensive back then though, and can't be seen as representative for anything other than the price of multi-disc FMV titles.

For a digital copy, prices nowdays are "thru the roof".... at least for me. But that doesent count for all the games.

Then I assume that your economic situation has become considerably worse over the years? Because prices have gone down noticeably for digital games, and that's not even accounting for sales

If you didn't like the demo, it's not worth 30 bucks in my opinion. Demos are usually designed to get you interested in a game and show the best sides of it. If you don't like it, there is a good chance you won't like the base game. If you really like the demo $30 sounds reasonable, but if you didn't, I wouldn't pay more then 10 bucks for it.

Well, people will vote no because there are a lot of cheap ass gamers here. Not hating, just saying. As long as you can afford it, yes it is totally worth it for what is a contender for game of the year and a return to form for a franchise that is chiefly responsible for popularizing the first person shooter genre.

i have about 140 hours on steam and about 200 hours played on ps4 with not a single crash on ether, doom on the other hand after 10 hours of play force closed every time i played after the 10 hour mark on a game save fallout seems pretty stable to me:)

The demo was really disappointing. Made me completely uninterested in buying the full game. DOOM is too basic, too monotonous and it just feels blank. I do not understand were did all the praise came from. Even $30 is too much, will consider buying it maybe for a fiver.
The Brutal Doom mod is much much better and is free.

the game is pretty fun only problem is for some people after about 10 hours of play the game starts to force close at checkpoints with no error codes or anything, after looking into the issue it looks like it has something to do with there built in DRM,hopefully they will patch it so i can finish the game at some point:)

I had seen couple of gameplay videos and tried the demo (actually I'm shamed to admit but I played it through 6-7 times). I noticed the sale yesterday and bought it immediately, 29,99€ (~34$ though, damn you HB for $ = €!) isn't really a huge price for such new game. Of course some people disagree and I'm ok with that.

As always think the situation yourself and consider would you enjoy it as much as something else you bought for 30$. I rarely go out to eat, I don't drink much, I don't smoke so I have some 'extra' since I don't do that stuff. I believe that one would spend 30$ easily at a bar :) Just watch couple gameplay videos, read couple reviews and you can decide if it is a game for you at the moment. Of course the price will get lower if you wait for it; I would be surprised if the price will be lower at the Winter sale but next Summer sale will quite sure offer it much cheaper.

Because it really is boring :( Before they released the game, they had a public multiplayer beta, and it was a bit dull. The MP portion was by the way outsourced to another studio, who has worked on the multiplayer component of other modern shooters, and it shows, the game feels rather generic, and it does not play to the strengths of DOOM. Supposedly the single-player portion of the game is great though (not played it, just going by what others have told me), and worth the asking price.

I'd pay $20 max for it, just because I'm cheap and I don't love games without a story. The gameplay seems really great though and some good mindless fun is never a bad thing. Still wouldn't pay $30 though, unless I was a Doom fan

It does have a story, and it's a pretty decent one.

From the gameplay videos I've seen, I never noticed much of a story so I assumed it wasn't a big part of the game. I stand corrected then.

Well, it can be pretty much summed up: "demons run amok, kill them while preferably not blowing up the entire Mars facility while you are in it." Still, for a Doom game, that was all anyone ever needed; whenever id tried to create an actual story for their games, it… didn't bode that well compared to when they were focusing on gameplay instead.

Still been hoping for a Id collection, don't have the time to play single player at the moment & multi ain't great so I can wait for a better deal but if you really want it & have time to play it right now might be worth, heard lots of people have enjoyed the campaign
