Why people do not playing won games?

View Results
I played more than 70% of won games.
I'm playing but not all at once. Give me more time!
The game that I won is still too far in turn, from the one I'm playing right now.
I do not have enough time to play games for now. I hope soon i will.
I lost interest in games that I won before.
I'm just waiting for the upgrade of my computer to play games at the maximum settings.
I just like to win.
I want to make giveaway creator happier by participate on his giveaways/events.
I really don't know why I do this.
I will refrain from answering.
Where are no my answer but I will suggest it in comments.

A bit of everything, honestly.

I lost interest in some of the games I've won a long time ago. I did play them, just didn't finish them. The other reason is I just don't feel like playing some games over other. You can't blame anyone for that - I have a 500+ library and in the past weeks I've been playing only like, 2 games.

For some of the bigger, newer games, internet is an issue. The reason I haven't played much of DOOM is because, the game already being huge, it took days to download. Once it was ready, I played it a bit... then for some unknown reason (well, not so unknown) there was a 36GB update... while I was trying to go through it bit by bit, I was also in the process of moving to my new computer. Obviously, this meant moving some of my games, and well... I had to leave the game behind. Now, if I want to play it, I'll have to spend once again weeks downloading every night. That sucks.

In other cases, the games I've won were not what I expected them to be, or just aren't fun to me. Nothing I can do about it much - I tried them, didn't find the experience an enjoyable one, so stopped playing. I shouldn't have to force myself to play games. :P

These are a few of the reasons I didn't finish games I've won. I did try most of my wins, however. This is also the reason I'm not that salty about users not playing some of their wins as much as people on SG tend to think is acceptable these days. If you've won 500 games and only idled a few, then yes, this is bullshit. But otherwise, I don't find myself judging much.

I only enter giveaways for games I'm interested in, so I sincerely plan on eventually finishing everything I've won, but the reasons I usually don't go out and play my wins right away boils down to these:

  1. Winning is completely random, so I'm already playing or planning on playing something else.
  2. I feel obligated to finish everything I've started, so I get hung up on trying to not play games I haven't already installed.
  3. If I seriously want to play a certain game right away (or think I do, anyway), I'll probably just buy it instead of hoping I'll win it.
  4. Sometimes I'm just not feeling that kind of game at that moment.

Many of us here are trying to sift through a never-ending backlog of our own creation (guilty!), but games are still supposed to be entertainment. Playing games out of a sense of duty while getting no joy out of it only wastes your time in misery. That's not to say pushing yourself to start something is a bad idea, but if you're not enjoying it, I'd personally come back to it later.

True, it saddens me when I give a game I dearly love to someone who doesn't touch it, but when I consider my own gaming habits, I figure they'll maybe get back to it someday too. at least most of the stuff I've won came from bundles... except tales of symphonia, which was sandwiched in between two big rpgs that I still haven't finished and I'll get to it I swear :(

I'm really trying to not play games which aren't installed too. Also, I'm trying to not walkthrough more than 2 games. Now, I trying to walkthrough Septerra Core which I like and Deus Ex which suddenly is not involved me in game's world

In general I try to play each won game at least for a short time (approx 15-30 mins) to get a basic feeling for the game and to know if I would enjoy it. If it happens to be abandoned, broken or just totally not my cup of tea etc. I have no problem to uninstall it, since at least I tried. If I enjoy it, then I will finish it. I will not instantly get around to play every game, but usually there is enough time between my wins to do so.

According to script I managed to play 84.6% of my wins. But these are my standards. I would prefer if people entered only giveaways if they intended to play the game, but that is an illusion I waved goodbye a long time ago. Besides, with that flood of shovelware currently on steam, I can totally understand if people wouldn't want to play all won games.......

I stopped trying games before walkthrough cause I spoil impression of games by tests. I really trying to walkthrough games but sometimes I feel it's too hard to me. In this case, I use youtube to see walkthrough. Unfortunately it doesn't work always.

Of the 3 games I won:

I wanted HL ep. 2 to have all of HL2, but I never got far into HL2, and probably will never get to it.

I played a little Deponia and didn't like it that much.

Never got around to Edna & Harvey: Harvey's New Eyes. Sounds like a decent game, but so are so many other games I own and don't play (including many I bought or pledged money for on Kickstarter). I hardly play these days.

Well, you should try other genres maybe?

No point. I don't think there's any genre I'd win and play. The games I finish most are hidden object style adventures, and I have enough of these that I haven't played.

Mainly because my hdd (500GB) is getting full. I did play a few games (roughly 30) of my wins, kinda that I had to delete them to free up space. I'll thinking of upgrading my storage space in the near future because 500GB is not gonna be enough for upcoming games.

I have 1TB now and I need just smallest SSD for OS. But sometimes it's better to have 1 HDD more with 125GB capacity when my PC use as transfer- or work- station between mac and photo-/videocameras.
Here's my statics if it's interesting:

  1. 200GB for Star Trek series
  2. 40GB+ for study (oh my god!)(except programs like IDE or Java)
  3. 20GB for installer packs of most need programs
  4. 70GB for old games which are not available to get anymore
  5. 80GB for steam
  6. 116GB for other games (titanfall2 need about 70GB... but not 120GB as titanfall 1 😄)
  7. 300GB for video processing and transfer video between photo-/videocameras and Mac
  8. Some other folders (it's not folders for tons of porn 😄)
    860GB total + 70GB free

I'm studying (time to time) programming too. My target is Java. I complete courses and now I try to fill gaps and skill up on code writing.
I use some time to games cause I really need breaks cause I'm also taking master's degree and learning artificial neural networks (wanna go to phd). Well, it all make my head to make "BOOM!"...

When i joined this site i was entering all the giveaways, didnt care if i will play it or not. It was awesome on my eyes to have a change to win all these games.

The Last 2 years I join only giveaways for games i will play. Btw i have played more than 50% of the games i won those years.

I play as I want/can. Last time someone checked for me and I've played more than 50% of my winnings. I know, also, there is a few games i've played offline (on a laptop) so their stats are not showing.

I won't feel bad about this.

wtf? get a few BL just from a topic like this? i don't understand why people are so salty?

buuuuuttttttttt, i thinks some of the guy who BL'ed you, is because your ratio not the thread :v i don't really know what they think tho, since my BL list is 0 (everybody deserve a chance)

EDIT : i should've answer the topic lol
My Answer : I play some of the game, especially my whislist. its hard to win that. so sometimes i just enter random private Train to spent my point, but lately i changed my mind, im only entering the game i want so if i win the game, the chance its im going to play it is high. :v

Aaaaand I bought my first graphic card (previous was not paid by my own moneys)! Yaaay! It's Asus GTX 1060 6GB and it's seems really pretty cool despite very high cost for me (increased scholarship for about half of year).
Time to start archived games (include SG's wins)! =D Except big part of time for a education......
Anyway, I very excited by some retests of my graphic card and I can't stop myself against this comment.

And what about offline play and card idle? How can you know if someone relly played or not played some game? Some people jist download si gleplayer games and then go offline to play them and have no playtime in steam api while some other people just run asf and get playtime in steam api.

Played time overwrite as soon as Steam get connection to internet (not mean social online status) as I know. So, you could play 10 hours in singleplayer game while social offline but Steam will overwrite your played time as +10 hours.
Thx for participate!
