The plug-n-charge USB unit does only that-- charge. I tried to use it when I first hooked up my Big Picture setup. You need a wired controller to be able to use it through your PC's USB port. For what it's worth, I dropped $15 for the wireless dongle and have used 2 wireless controllers without issue for months now. I still use the plug-n-charge cable to charge a controller every once in awhile during play.

I have 2 wireless Xbox360 controllers from the console I have, But was wondering if I'd be able to hook them up to my PC to use with games without buying the wireless dongle.
I remember there being a chargeable battery pack you could use that came with a USB cord which you would normally plug into the console to charge but I was wondering if I was to buy one and perhaps be able to use the USB to connect it to my PC.
Does anyone know if this would work or not?
