If by backlog you mean games I WANT to play then yes...I think I can.In 2 weeks I have 1 week of exams and then I'm done, after that I can certainly start fighting with my backlog.

But if I would want to beat or at least play like 80% of my library,it would be impossible because it would keep growing too fast.

It's not really impossible...
I'd just need more free time and less csgo

meanwhile... I'll keep on buying stuff because reasons™

Not in my life. Even though I'm young (28) I think that It's not possible due to the following reasons: Work, Friends (Parties, Trips), Cultural activites (Books, Music, Films, TV Series), possible family (couple and descendants, ya know) and lazyness.

" Will you ever beat your backlog? "

beat > no need to beat anything - games no matter how good, if those weren't
able to get your time/attention are in the end just unnecessarily collected clutter

backlog > wait, so the mindless collection in ones steam library is meant to be played as well?
pointless unless you had fun to do so ... which i do not see any fun in it, when "forced as a task"

Why is there no option "Duh, offcourse!"? Doable is still slightly negative that it might not happen. :p

No. Maybe if I stop adding more games to it and just sit down for couple of years. That's just with my PC games, let alone console backlog.

Not a chance. Titles enter my backlog faster than they go out of it so far. However I remain optimistic. I mean steam only has a limited number of titles so eventually I'm bound to have nothing else to get xD

If I can somehow get over my SG Forum addiction, I could probably work on it a lot faster. I find myself minimizing to check this site every hour at least though. :(

Am not even halfway through my library and the % I played keeps on dropping. Mostly because of bundles from which I will only play 1 or 2 games out of 5 or 6 games. Currently played around 350 games out of 1000 I have on Steam and the rest has never been installed yet. Some I know I will never install because I simply don't like the game. But still the games that I have played combined will definitely have costed more together than all that I didn't play. If you spend a dollar a week on games within no time you will have a library of several hundred games while a triple A game will cost you as much as these hundreds of games.

I'm trying to slowly increase my rate of completed games versus total games. An year ago it was 6,3% and so far it sits at 6.7%, hope I can make it to 10% soon (a.k.a. in a couple of years or so). I'm aware that there are many MP only games, or high-score games that are not completable, else I'd be more ambitious with my goals.

I'll buy more fuel for it before I let such an unthinkable thing occur. That said I just got confirmation of my tax rebate so I can now afford to build a decent machine that is at least worthy of such a backlog.

It keeps growing faster than I can finish the games, so no. It looks like I'm catching up as I'm going through multiple smaller games now, but that'll change the moment I get started on a real time sink again

Never. THere's so many good game now... far more than i can play. And there are so many game i wish to play again just for the pleasure. And there are some MMO i play, burning this precious gaming time, and some multiplayer....
I'm sitting over probably a full generation of console now late. And i can't see how i can beat that.

Every time I get to the end of my backlog, more games get added either via a bundle, friend, giveaway or a key I had lying around that I forgot to activate. Also not sure if I am tempted to play my oldest games I have from pre-recorded time on Steam (I hear they added achievements on those old games to Motivate people to play them)

Amount of games I acquire > Amount of games I play

With that said, there are some games I simply won't bother playing.

I have two backlogs : the short one and the long one.
Short one are the ones I intend to play, I think I have played most of them. Some I left because they are not that good.

The long backlog, is another matter. It composed of games from bundles I think "I may play". Or free games. That, I think, will never be completed.

i also have something like this. On my day to day i play games that i want to play to have fun, these games are in a "play soon" category. When i'm on holidays i take a few hours each day to try a "new" game, if i like that game i'll put it in the play soon category, if i don't like it i put it in a "bad games" category.
