It's a shady site with shady practics like do 20 tasks (wishlist game XYZ, follow XYZ, retweet XYZ etc.) to have a chance in a raffle.
You can't kick the wishlisted games from your list, can't kick the retweets etc., they have a bot that check it.
In the end it push the wrong people with follows and retweets, it push the wrong games with the wishlists etc..

another issue is it seems to want to connect your steam+twitch+discord+twitter which could be useful for data-mining and profiling if they were to sell that
not a big deal to people who openly connect those four things I guess

That doesn't explain why 5 different users would suddenly give it away in the span of 3 days after a 3 year gap since the last GA.
I noticed the same thing with the delisted (and very expensive) F1 2017. 3 people gave it away a few days ago. Interestingly, 2 of them also gave away Skylar & Plux.
My guess is that someone with a big cache of old HB keys decided to give them away to his friends/followers and some of them found their way here.

It appears the keys came from a giveaway, not from some random guy dumping old keys like I had assumed :)
Some of the users who gave away Skylar & Plux also gave away P·O·L·L·E·N which, according to icaio's investigation, came from a site where you can play (idle?) games for rewards. I'm also seeing a ton of fresh copies of these games for trade on barter.vg. Some users there have up to 4 copies.
Sadly, I don't have any info on what the site in question is.

there is a current giveaway for this very game and I asked the giver this very question. Would love this game as it seems perfect for me, but the dev/publisher has not set a price in my currency - so no buy button for me.

I look at steamdb fairly often, and I think that has to be the most "N/A's" I've ever seen with a game (set to US dollar). Wonder what that's all about?
I kind of have a history with P·O·L·L·E·N. I believe it's the first game I ever followed on Steam (actually hit the "follow" button to keep an eye on it's development), and then it came out and just got trashed over it's optimization issues. I quit following, removed it from my wishlist, and eventually forgot all about it until today.
Really shitty that you can't even buy it. Is that common in Australia? Is buying it from GOG an option for you?

It's interesting that after all these years, steam keys for this game just pop up. I looked around a bit, and I only spotted it on one grey market site, actually going for slightly more than the $9.99 steam price.

Thanks, never bothered with those sites. I appreciate the effort. The dev was active up until 2018 and then nothing. So no specials and no legit key sellers. Maybe those keys came from the early days, when devs sometimes hand out keys hoping to promote interest in their game.

I would have to check, but Australia got it's own steam store, with Australian currency in November 2018 and although Steam sent the developers and publishers notice, a lot of smaller games just never got prices. The dev for Pollen looks to have disappeared sometime in 2018, so no price for Australians and we cannot buy. All the N/A's are probably due to other countries also not having a price set in their currency.
I keep a word document of the little indie games I like the look of that have no price for me. Is about 3 pages long, so maybe 90 games? There would be more (am not interested in most twitch type games, platformers, shooters, etc.).

not uncommon for stress testing to be easy to get into on games then paywall for full access.

They are giving access to a complete game, but it is not completely clear whether participants will still have access to the game after stress test completed.
