MSI H110M PRO-VH

Thoughts? :P Going with just 8gb ram and an i5 6400. This is excactly the price I'm looking for but other suggestions are welcome as long as they're within the 50-60 euro price range :)

You can get i5-6500 for your budget, but no difference in gaming anyway

I would put a bit more and get AN i5 6600(K)

That bit more is a bit way more, especially since you need a cooler too.

Yep, probably looking at 150$ more overall.

Well, better spend a bit more for a CPU that has more power and is overclockable, except if he's going to upgrade again within 2 years, otherwise I would get that I5 6600K (also if he would upgrade soon).

Most users don't dabble in overclocking, and once again that bit more isn't really just a bit.

well, you don't need to overclock it right away. so unless you do that, you don't need the extra cooler. the boxed one will suffice for standard frequency. but you would have more options for the future, you know.

I don't remember the K ones coming with a cooler to begin with, that's the problem.

if you can, go for the i5-6600K with free multiplicator. else you will have a hard time overclocking it. the 6600K can be overclocked really well.

i5 6400 looks good! Thanks a bunch for the suggestions!

As for the 6600 that's quite obviously above my MAX budget. My 200 is max for a reason :X
Put in a bit more again and get myself an i7 6700k...

Depends:

  1. if you will get a discrete graphics card, then buy an Intel Core i5-6400,
    • if you are not avert to overclock, you could pay a bit more for a Z-chipset motherboard, an i5-6600K, and a third party cooler;
  2. if you will play with the integrated graphics, an AMD A10 APU is your best choice, preferably a 78xx, as they have the best iGPU,
    • as an added bonus, you don't need to pay an extra for an overclock-capable AMD motherboard (just avoid the cheapest ones), although a third-party cooler is still highly suggested.

I've got a couple of GPU's laying around atm. HD 7950 and R9 270X and some other older ones but they'll be fine for now. Going for a 1060 once I've saved up some money again :) I do like OCing for the free extra performance but I've been running with my old Phenom II x4 840 for almost 7 years now and never felt the need to overclock it. I only really ever overclock a GPU.

edit: I'll probably never ever use intergrated graphics :P

You wouldn't get too much from that "Phenom" (which is actually an Athlon) anyway, you will be fine with the i5-6400 + 270X, they will last for a while.... unless you need extra VRAM.
If you choose to buy a GTX 1060, avoid the 3 GB version at all costs, it's a weaker GPU than the 6 GB version (your typical Nvidia bad advertising).

That's why I'm currently looking only for a CPU :P I have a 8gb ddr4 stick and the r9 270x is running all the games I currently play just fine on high (wow, witcher3, division, just cause 3 etc). And yeah I am aware that at LEAST 4gb is pretty much required from now on but my mind is already made up on the msi 1060 once I have the money :P Thanks anyway tho!

i5-6500 and 270X here.

Get the i5-6500 or i5-6400. Don't bother to jump up to the K unless you know you want to overclock.

For the best advice:

Mention your other specs as well, and mention if you got a cpu-cooler already or budget for an aftermarket one.
Otherwise it might be grossly imbalanced with the rest of your setup leading to either wasted money or wasted potential.

Other specs don't matter right now. I'm only just looking for a CPU. I'll probably get a decent cheap mobo.. MSI b150M is cheap, good and plenty of room for future expansion of RAM etc. My current GPU will 100% bottleneck the i5 6400 but I'll get a new one once I have enough money saved up :) Same goes for RAM as a 16gb kit still costs around 100 euro.

That works too. If you're planning to upgrade it part-wise anyway then that is cool too :P
Just make sure to pick black friday as the date to buy the cpu for extra deals.
(and avoid i7 or i3, go for the i5 6500 or preferrably the k version if on deal. Then you got more room for later overclocking. If deals are sucky, then throttle down to the i5 6400)

If I were in the market this winter instead of 2015 spring/summer, this is what I would have done.

As it were, last year I just waited for Skylake.

i5-6500 hands down if you can get a half decent Black Friday deal. There are some interesting new chips coming January from both companies but almost certainly nothing revolutionary at your price point.

Okay so my mind is set on the i5 6400 now. Any suggestions for motherboard? 32gb ram capacity min and no sli support required :P

Okay I went with the i5 6400, MSI B150M BAZOOKA and 8gb ddr4 ram :) Thansk for the help guys <3

The CPU is coming with JC3, Warface (20euro ingame content), Ashes of the Singularity, 25 ingame stuff for world of tanks and world of warships and CS:GO so if anyone is interested..:P

If you can still change the order I think you should consider the MSI B150 Gaming M3. It's cheaper than the B150M BAZOOKA and has the advantage of supporting CrossFire, which in my opinion is a very important feature to have in a motherboard. I almost doubled the framerate on my HTPC for practically no money. You should be able can get very nice improvement by combining your HD 7950 and R9 270X in CrossFire (should be possible even if they're not the same model, see here). Here's a feature comparison of the mentioned boards.

I got it all in a bundle for 250 euro :P also not interested in crossfire
