I intend to buy Windows 10 PRO OEM version, anybody has suggestion where? I noticed HRK has a good price, but not about them as a store. Seems it's really cheap on ebay.

Have you tried ebay?

Never dealt with HRK support (which might be a good thing.. never having to >.>)
But kinguin/g2a I've both had issues with, and got a refund both times.
So try not to pay a lot, don't worry about getting any shield bs they try to sell. If you have an issue you will get a refund.
PS Pay with a credit card too of course.

I would pay with PayPal as they almost always side with the buyer with digital goods. Also debit cards have chargebacks too (but it is difficult.)

Good thing PayPal protects buyers and not sellers with digital goods.

Is it really genuine? Like, you received disk, or sticker, or something?

There are many ways to still get Windows 10 for free. I recently activated Windows 10 Pro with a Windows 7 Pro key.

To clarify: I used a key that I'd previously used to active Windows 7 Pro on a different PC.

When did Microsoft stop supporting this? It worked the last week of December 2016 when I did it.

If this article's true, Windows 10 only reached 25% market share in February 2017, while Windows 7's market share was still over 45%. Given that adoption rate, I'd be surprised if they didn't continue to support this for some time to come.

i was told those cheap keys are usually stolen, so it's better to just pirate windows instead.

From what I heard it's mostly old windows 7/8 keys converted to windows 10.

No, upgraded keys are non-transferable and tied to HW.

Maybe I used the wrong term. But you can use a windows 7 from one pc to activate windows 10 on another.

No, you can't do this without breaking license conditions. There seems to be misconception between functional activation and legal activation. For example, you may activate Win 7 OEM key (builders license) on new computer, but to be it in legal way, you need to have it on same receipt with rest of the PC components that make whole working computer and apply COA sticker (certificate of authenticity) somewhere on the case.

You may say that working activation is all you need, but from law perspective it's no different than having cracked OS and you will face same repercussion according to your local law.

Not to mention that people are willing to blow $60 on flavour of the month AAA game they forget about in 6 hours, meanwhile risk their business for $120 in software they use whole time PC is on.

This is not related neither to my original question nor to my discussion with Mully about the origin of those keys.

It actually is, none of these keys provide legal activation, they usually come from MSDN/Dreamspark or whatever is name of student license program and are non-saleable/transferable in legal way, same goes for licenses for refurbished hardware sellers etc.

(edit) To put it in perspective, it's like guessing steam activation key, it works and it is genuine key - but it's not legal ownership.

I don't know how's situation in your county, but here if you are a student most likely you can get it for free (universities are part of MSDNAA program); If you're not a student, find a friend who is :D

Win 10 Home $119.99 on MS store, on eBay for price of cup of coffee, yeah that seems legit...

Checked ebay and I laughed. It's so fukin cheap there - well scrapped license anyway.

No legitimate license from Microsoft would be that cheap, though. It's misuses of licenses, but Microsoft do not enforce their own rules that tightly, so yeah you can get away with those licenses. Better than pirating straight away.

Well, yes, of course it's not the official license. However, as you pointed out, Microsoft is not complaining, so I won't lose any sleep from using one of those.

I used a legit Win 7 then upgraded using a loophole. I actually may have a 7 key handy.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No loophole at all. They deliberately let people upgrade using that method.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I still consider it a loophole. They allow all to use the method yes but we all know its basically for people that use Assistive Tech.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You don't even need Assisitive Tech to upgrade at all. Like I said, they never stopped the upgrade program. As long as you have a valid key, you can still upgrade legitimately.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I didn't say you did. I'm saying that's the reason MS is keeping the option to upgrade free around. THey aren't checking if you use it or not.

Pro or Home? They have it for $15 or $13. (Still recommend using PayPal protection) P.S. Ebay prohibits digital goods, but some don't know that.

Dunno... I only bought two game keys there so far, without complications - they were pictures of keys xD (but then again, it was box-only game)

I've bought both windows 8.1 pro & windows 10 pro keys from opium pulses. both have worked fine. I'm using the windows 10 oem key on this pc & 8.1 on my laptop. I've bought a few games from them in the past too.

The thing with opium pulses is that they only get a limited stock & once it's gone it's gone unless they bother trying to get more from the developers. I think the reason they are so cheap is because of the limited stock. The prices also fluctuate up & down constantly like the stock market as opposed to fixed prices & discounts during sales. I paid about €8 for windows 8.1 oem key when I got it, but it's more expensive now. Windows 10 cost me about €17 but it was around €12 when I bought the windows 8.1 key.

Quick note: windows keys are photos/scans of boxed sticker/voucher code thing. Game keys depend on if they are from boxed copy or direct from publisher/developer.

P.S: you need a usb stick / device to download windows installation files from microsoft website itself. The oem key is just used to activate / register the copy or something - I forget. Not sure if they are valid for multiple computers...

All these eBay, Reddit etc who sells W10 keys, are just activation keys, not licenses.
So if you are home user, then nobody cares actually, if you use pirated version or not

It totally depends on wether you need the dvd as well or no :P

All the media are available free in the internet - Windows, Office, you name it.. Licenses, on the other hand, are not.

2 Month ago i bought one on http://hood.de/ looks like it works fine, but i wait 1 day for the key. While i wait i bought another from https://www.mmoga.de/ and it works too. The key comes instantly at mmoga but was a bit more expensive.

Is it legal to buy an OEM Windows? Aren't they supposed to be versions that come with a specific hardware?
Considering how forceful Microsoft is about their new OS, they probably won't mind, though.
