Thank you for sharing this! When they announced that they were going to upgrade all Sims 2 copies to the Ultimate Edition free of charge, I almost went and bought a retail copy to get it. This is way better!

Not that it matters now but the FAQ mentioned that those that bought The Sims 2 on CD were not eligible to receive the free Ultimate edition on Origin.

True. But many people on here said that when they called Support, if they talked nicely, they were allowing them to redeem their retail keys for Origin copies (which prior to this EA was giving the Sims 2 Deluxe version even if the key was for the base Sims 2 - already a nice gesture by EA) and then was later upgraded to the full Ultimate Collection. Definitely took an effort by the user, but seemed worth it. This, however, takes the cake :D

I wasn't aware of people calling EA and getting a free digital version. Looks like I would have missed out if they didn't make it free for everyone.

I wish I had known that they were doing this before waiting in queue for several hours last week trying to activate my CD copy in Origin.

Thanks for the heads up though. I know of several others who want this game.

What does this "Ultimate" mean, all dlcs? Do you need sims 2 on origin to activate this?

Includes every single expansion and stuff pack ever released. Free for everyone regardless if you own the base game or not.

The whole thing is only 13 GB. It's still a lot for such an old game, but nowhere near 100 GB.
