I'm curious about last week's SHIELD nonogram. It was a difficult one and want to get an idea of how many of you tackled it. Poll below so I know whether to steer clear of that level of difficulty or if it doesn't matter in the end.

None of this week's are hard, though they are on the larger side.

athletic equipment 6, 5 letters - - - - - - , - - - X -
BLACK 3 letters - X -
the right one 4 letters - - - X
black 3 letters X - - convert this letter to its number position in the alphabet

How did you solve SHIELD last week?

View Results
All on my own!
No need to solve the nono, I guessed from the hint.
I used a nonogram solver.
I got partway through it and guessed the picture without completing.
I bruteforced that part of the code.
Po-ta-toes!! Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew.

nice, crosspic again!

I had more problems with last week's 3rd nonogram (4). SHIELD was very easy as I'd seen this sign many times before.

Figure I should ask here: any good picross games on Steam or on the web?

Picross Touch
Best one on Steam and it's free. Awesome controls and configs plus workshop support has 6000+ puzzles. Only negative is puzzles are limited to 20x20 and under.

I had considered moving my weekly puzzles to this since it is free and every one here has Steam :D. But being limited to 20x20 would only make it harder to create puzzles.

As I said SHIELD was easy 'cause it was symmetrical. If it wasn't it would be quite hard

Since this is the Puzzle discussion group, that is part of what you need to solve. I won't give you the answer directly, but I will point you in the right direction.

I have done many nonogram puzzles in the past weeks. If you read through them (no need to solve the nonograms), one or more will answer your question on how to proceed.

Note: "BLACK" has multiple solutions that are techncally valid, but the puzzle accepts only 1.
(you can play around with row 1 and 3, and row 22 and 25, creating different combinations while still meeting the puzzle's requirements)

Shouldn't have an impact on the overall puzzle though.

Yep, I mentioned that in the description of the puzzle on the site:

The last few blocks have multiple solutions, but only one makes sense in the context of the image. Sorry!
