So i've just recently hit 225 games on steam ( measly amount i know ) and that's already too many for me. I like to play games for a while, get into them, get as many achievements as possible and such. With 225 in my Steam's library i struggle to find enough time for even 5 or 6 of them i have currently installed.

Only thing saving me is that i have SSD and amount of games i can have installed at one moment is really limited.

I have 944 installed at the moment but I'm only playing about 20 of them regularly. I just don't any reason to uninstall games once they are installed.

I have even a few more than that still. I also leave things installed until I'm absolutely done with them, or even then if I liked them a lot. And I install just about everything that I intend to play "really soon, honestly".

And what do I play? The same two f2p games every day. (Sometimes I play and finish a shorter indie game, currently Copoka. And sometimes I play some casual games my kid likes. But other than that .... yeah. The backlog is real ... at least my New Years resolution of buying a lot fewer bundles is still holding up :))

I need to reformat my PC soon, so I have uninstalled most of my games. But just last week I had 550+ games installed. Which was a bunch of games I've been playing, either didn't finish or some which I still need to grind achievements in, Others which I really want to play. ^^'

Happy cake day!

Yup ditto. 352 installed here. I uninstall games when I've got 100% on them, but even then there are some that stick around after the fact because my kids like them or I enjoyed them a lot.

Haha yeah, my problem is I find it hard to let go, so there are a lot of games sitting installed with like 70% done, and I probably am not good enough to finish them but I keep them installed because 'one day I might be able to do them.'

Comment has been collapsed.

Man, I'm glad you mentioned the "letting go" part.

There's always a sort of sadness or depression after I finish a really, really good game, and often I have to take a break for a couple days before playing another because I'm afraid the next game I play won't be as good, hahaha.

Ahh yeah I was trying to explain that to my wife the other day after finishing a big game. And she's like 'but you've got so many games, find another'. And yes thankfully I do manage to find another game to enjoy usually, but you're still going to miss exploring the last world and discovering everything for the first time.

Well different pcs, different drives. Some are fine with 256GB and some have a dozen Terabytes. I have 4 HDDs, bringing my total capacity a bit over 6Tera and I still need to remove stuff in batches after every month or two to make room for more. I'm a hoarder with everything. Have tv series on my pc going back over a decade (;-;)

Also not all games are equal in that aspect. There's ones taking up 40+ GB and some that barely take up 300MB

Not as much as one would think. They're mostly external drives that I bought over time, usually when a good deal popped up in a store here. My latest one, a 3T portable WD costed like $70 on a special offer at a local store, and that was 2 years ago

At near 2500 games installed, due to index errors with steam having 2 directories, supposedly fixed with latest Steam beta allowing you to move steam directories.

Considering Depressurizer exists, no amount of games should be too many unless you have a horrible way (or no way) of organizing them.

For sake of the poll I'll say 5K+, even though I have way way more than 5K games across everything.
My PSX Library alone is 1,711 games.

Too many games is only after the point of cutting back food expenses to get more games. Can come at 100 games, can come at 5000. Or you're a lovely support member and you have a problem!

Then it's the first game you redeem that you consider a trash, so 99.9% of free games, and at least 90% of bundle games.

I never consider one can have too many games. The reason is simple: whenever I play something I do it because I want, not because of obligation. Hence, the concept of backlog feels rather pointless to me. What interests me more is being able to choose whatever I want, depending on my mood, from a list of candidates. And I like this list to be as big as possible in order to allow for as much variety as possible.

Most hoarders will choose 5000+
With 1140 games (not counting the many hidden) im already at too much.

I voted on 500+

100-200 good/great games can be 'a lifetime' of worth. The trick bit is wich titles are that worth.
For even the most completionists 500 is too much- its viable to get all their worth and complete every single one of them, but it will take too long already.

Anyway, the numbers will always rise with time.
The point is- if getting your gaming takes most or all of your leisure time then its too much. Any human on earth looses something if they single out one type of entertainment above all the variety there is. TIME is limited and everything competes with everything- so the more you anything the less other things.
Go trekking or on a trip to another country. Watch different movies. Tries scuba diving. In your town and towns nearby im sure theres lots you never experienced.

Id rather gaming had some sort of cheaper renting model. I buy lots of them but i have to- on the cheap cause of prices, lack of demos means buying 'blind', etc.
Owning more, owning volumes- this is meaning nothing to me or my life, at all.

The feeling of having too many games started around nr. 400, but if I had just 150 good games I might actually enjoy them more (aka having time to enjoy the whole of them instead of skipping to another game) so that's what I vote for.

Then there's the other part of me screaming for more and more games and to try them all. My grandparents accumulated loads of books to "read them when they retire from work" so I seem to be doing the same with games. Yes, I know. It will not work like this. It did not work for them either

I would say you have hit too many games when you know that you own more than you will realistically be able to ply in your lifetime. There are some exceptions to this, like if you are collecting games for multiple people to play and you like different games or if you are just collecting games for the purpose of collecting and not playing them, but I think that is lame. I'm a gamer, I collect games to play, not to farm cards, +1 my Steam account, gain levels on Steam, and try to impress people.

And if you are wondering, yes, I do think I own too many games. This is because I like so many games and would love to play them all, but realistically I will have to chose the most desirable ones and play those because I will probably not be able to get to them all. Also, I try to finish every game I start. I could easily own over 3000 games right now, but like I said, I don't collect for that reason and I don't want garbage polluting and further complicating my Steam account.
