Because they are like normal letters +1.

Because some people write +1 and some people write in CAPS LOCK.

Some people have broken caps lock and some people have weak english and they dont know tge difference of caps lock and no caps lock.

I am not sure THOSE caps have got anything to do with caps... There is a difference when someone writes i instead of I and when someone WRITES LIKE THIS FOR NO REASON.

I disagree. Many forums have a way to make you agree or endorse other people's comments, so you can make them more relevant. Usually, it happens in topics where it's asked for opinions etc. It's useful so people won't write the same thing over and over, making it easier for everybody participating in the topic.

EDIT: Someone below answered the same thing (in other words, of course).

I think it's just that people can't think of anything more profound to say when they agree with someone.

Sure, if they have anything to add, it's usually written along with the "+1"! :P

I can't stand sites like Reddit simply for the fact that it turns into a popularity contest and if you don't have a popular opinion there isn't much reason to participate in a discussion. I know some sites have a +rep/-rep for posts that isn't so obtrusive, and I don't mind that, but yeah, when a site revolves around upvoting and downvoting, I (personally) rather not use the site at all

When a person puts +1 after a comment or some post, it usually means that the person (who +1'd) agrees with that post/comment. Since he/she is a single person, that's why they add 1.
