I know how you're feeling. My girlfriend is currently studying art and architecture in Prague. Next month her 2nd year will start. She often get's less than 4 hours of sleep because she has a lot of work to do. Hope you do well and never give up.

Not an art student (or an Undergrad student) but i remember the days of being new at the university.
you don't have enough time, mainly because you don't know how to study yet.
each finds a way to study and right now you are doing all of the things. even those that are meaningless for you, it will ease down...

To be honest, I miss my university days, they seem like a breeze compared to all the hustle and bustle of work life. I have infinitely more deadlines and reports to complete at work compared to my Bachelors or Masters studies. So I wouldn't bother giving you any empty platitudes.
I'll just give you one warning. That stuff they tell you about how "if you work hard now and then the future gets easy" ? That stuff is a load of bull crap! Something new always comes up and you jump back into routine of running on the hamster wheel ( figuratively speaking ofc ) . So don't forget to take a break once in a while and relax. As long as you don't burn yourself out, you'll be fine. Cheers!

Art student? Sounds interesting. I'm not really skilled in anything, but definitely interested in creative subjects.
Do you mind sharing some of your work?

Not even doodles or little projects you practiced on? :/
In Germany you need to make a portfolio of artworks to even get to study art. :P

I had a friend in art school. So I heard some of the horror stories about how difficult it was and how hard it was to reach the deadlines.
He had to do this painting that they had been given a month to do. But, apparently he was very sick the day they had to turn it in and the next day when he went to bring it to his teacher, she took it, walked over to the garbage, and threw it away. She then told him (something along these lines), "I don't accept late assignments, especially when they're trash."

I feel your pain -- marketing/graphic design graduate here (although it was 20 years ago). Studied business for my parents, and art to satisfy my own desires, because I had a talent for art and thought it would be easy for me. Wow, was I wrong! Art turned out to be much more difficult and time consuming than business school ... not to mention much more expensive (by way of constant purchases of art supplies, etc).
Coincidentally, my current field involves neither business nor art lmao. I ended up being a commercial/residential carpenter because I prefer working outside. :)
Good luck in your studies!

A few weeks ago I started school again after quite a long break of doing nothing. I knew it would be hard work where procrastinating wouldn't be an option. I thought I was prepared, turns out I underestimated just how much hard work it actually requires.
I just completed my second week full of lectures, daily assignments, weekly assignments, daily drawings, watching tutorials... and then they recommend working on personal projects during the weekends. Deadlines are tight, most of my days are spent at school, when I actually get home I barely have any time to do anything before I need to sleep.
The point is that I haven't been able to be around much, especially on the forums. I should be able to spend some more time around here soon, but until then I have a little something I've been saving for my favourite forum lurkers. ♥
