Wow, that sucks! I wish there had been some added content for single players. As can be seen from the multiplayer aspect of it being long dead, at least some single player content would make the extra cost still worthwhile.

I do wonder why Steam still sells the multiplayer content only still if that aspect of a game is done for. Wouldn't that just be a waste of money for unsuspecting customers?

i think it's awesome xD

max payne 3 is one of the few aaa games that can be played 100% without buying extra content. :3

I guess that is a good point. That being said, I like extra content like full-blown expansion packs of yore. Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal, for example. Or most of the DLC for Fallout 3 (The Pitt was really neat, and quite challenging at parts).

But it's nice being warned about content not needed (as I tend to see a "Deluxe" edition on sale as well, and want to buy it rather than the regular version). Thanks for saving some people (that read this thread) some money!

I won Max Payne a few days ago in a giveaway, and I was thinking of getting the sequels. Are they any good? I've heard about the series but have never played any of them before.

i liked all 3 games.
1-2 are outdated now, but give them a try if you don't mind the graphics, and lack of physics in the first.

I still enjoy the original Doom games, as well as C64 games (played on an emulator), so graphics are super important to me. As long as I can play it on my computer I am happy. Would I have to use some program to make Max Payne or Max Payne 2 playable on my newer computer?

I'm fine with fullscreen anyhow, so I won't need the hack (but thank you for letting me know about it). Thank you for the program that allows sound in Max Payne! A game without sound would be pretty boring, I would think!

What is the cause of the missing sound? Is it the game itself, or just due to the fact that it isn't 100% compatible with newer computers?

I just downloaded the file about 10 minutes ago. When I install Max Payne, I will load it up. Is the Steam version of the game fully patched, or is there a fan patch out there? The reason I ask is that Fallout 2 has a fan patch that fixes a lot of bugs and adds content. I just wanted to make sure.:)

Thanks again for the help.:)

I'll be fine with the base game, as I've never played it before (I've played Fallout 2 numerous times, so the added content is a nice bonus). It's good to hear that it isn't very buggy. Too many games released nowadays seem to have too many bugs on release day!

First Max Payne was a gimmick game, the first one to use bullet time. It is barely more than a collection of shooter levels with something that pretends to be a noir story.
The sequel decided to go in another direction, it is strong in trying to tell a typical hard-boiled noir story with good success. The downside is that if you click through the cut-scenes, the game is like 4-5 hours long or maybe even shorter. (Also, it has a few gimmicky levels of trial and error. Not many people like those.)
Both are good games, by the way, in their own accord, especially since they want to push you forward into action by being made in the era where cover button didn't exist yet. :)

I remember the glut of bullet time games that came out after this one. That seems to happen when some new feature or gameplay comes out!

No cover means you have to be more careful!;)

In this game it more of means you have to shoot first and have to be on the move. There are exceptions though, enemy placement started to be a real game element in the second half of MP2.

Kind of like the classic Dooms. You couldn't really just stand in place or you'd end up as hamburger!

DLC is 100% MP, as other already said. Don't bother with it, it doesn't give any kind of SP bonus.
