"Nostalgic gamers and Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) enthusiasts are in for a treat as boutique publisher SNEG is set to revive eight classic D&D games on PC via GOG and Steam this March. Some games have been dormant for over 25 years, making their return to modern gaming platforms a much-anticipated event. The list of returning titles includes Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace, Fantasy Empires, DragonStrike, and Deathkeep. The Silver Box Classic Bundle will also be made available, featuring , Dragons of Flame, War of the Lance, and Shadow Sorcerer.
Initially released in the '80s and '90s, these beloved D&D titles graced various gaming platforms, such as 3DO, Amiga, Atari ST, Commodore 64, NES, Apple II, and the SEGA Master System. SNEG's mission is to allow players to relive these cherished memories on contemporary PCs. Oleg Klapovskiy, Director at SNEG, shared his enthusiasm for the project, saying, "I started making that dream come true by bringing the Gold Box titles back to gamers, and now we are continuing with this dream by bringing back another portion of classics to both GOG and Steam."
Among the games making a comeback is DragonStrike, a groundbreaking dragon combat simulator with 20 missions set in the world of Dragonlance. Players can take control of mighty dragons to intercept enemy dragons, destroy enemy ships, and protect the forces of good to advance in rank, gain magical items and hit points, and acquire stronger dragons.
Another returning title, Spelljammer: Pirates of Realmspace, will allow players to pilot a ship (spelljammer) in Realmspace and visit eight different worlds for exploration and trade. Players can expect spectacular first-person flight combat and classic tactical encounters as they uncover the terrible conspiracy threatening to conquer Realmspace itself.
Fantasy Empires and Deathkeep also join the lineup of revived games, bringing back strategic kingdom-building and a first-person single-player role-playing experience, respectively. The Silver Box Classic Bundle adds four more games set in the Dragonlance universe, offering a mix of side-scrolling action, strategic gameplay, and immersive storytelling.
