Hmmm should I buy myself a pizza or this bundle? Decision, decisions....
I already own them Larrys.
This bundle does not T(w)ickle me to buy it.

Just so you know, Ceville is an excellent game. ^_^

But no pixel boobs, actually it's a decent adventure game, and i believe removed from steam even for a bit.

Its only problem was the frequent crashing. I don't know if it was ever removed from steam. So what if it doesn't have boobs? It's still awesome. But now that you said boobs, I remember playing a bit of Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored in an internet cafe in the past. It was really fun. xD I have also fully played Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust and I have also played a bit of Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: Reloaded (the first one was awesome, the 2nd one was not that good).

...and i believe removed from steam even for a bit.

Yes, it was. It was removed temporarily because the previous publisher's license to sell it had ended. It was gone for about 4 months, and then came back with a new publisher.

I know because I missed purchasing it for 85%-90% off during a Steam sale just before that happened. I've been waiting to buy this for awhile, and now it's bundled. Wonderful.

It is. But it feels a bit like they ran short of money during the later stages of the production because they are re-using a lot of locations in the 2nd half of the game.

Ehm, I don't really know anything about this. xD It was still awesome, so I didn't mind. But the frequent crashing was my biggest problem.

I had the same problem with Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island. Amazing adventure. Feels more like Monkey Island than Tales of Monkey Island but at one point later on the game always crashed for me and I couldn't find a savegame after that point so I could skip the bug.

I (and some others) had trouble with the steam version to even get it started, but someone from their support, stepped in and fixed it, a few months ago i finished it to the end and didn't encounter any bug.
I should have the savegames still somewhere if you want one.

A Vampyre Story i can also really recommend.

Also maybe this. http://steamcommunity.com/app/344030/discussions/0/1474222595299283206/

If you still have the savegame that would be great but if not it's no biggie since I'm currently busy with The Witcher 3 anyway (and it will probably keep me busy for 2018 :D). The game always crashed for me (at the same point) somewhere on the Aztec island but I can't remember after which puzzle exactly.

Yeah, I've heard good things about A Vampyre Story except that it ends kind of abruptly :)

I definitely remember playing this game (Ceville), but don't own it... Does anyone remember if this game was free to play for a limited time or something? I don't even remember if I finished the game or not...

EDIT: I remember now, back in 2011, Onlive had a promotion where there were a bunch of games available to play for free for two weeks, this was one of them, and I did play the whole thing, although I barely remember it...

I just bought these during the Winter Sale for $30 and now they're $4. Hmm, looks like my patience for retro games pays off again. :3

On another note, this is simply an amazing bundle for lovers of old Sierra adventure titles. I highly recommend at full and especially at this cheap price. :D

Larry 1 being my first ever pc game, introduced by a friend of the family. When i was about 13.. and yes my parents were fine with it.

No Box Office Bust though (not like they were great) but isn't even on steam. Also no Larry 4!?!? That sucks.

There is also a Fanmade Larry 2 Remake (with a point and click parser rather then typing) for anyone interested, but you just have to google it.

22 euro for 1-6 on steam vs 18 8.50 euro on GOG, 7 and Magna both about 1 euro more on steam, how is that not NOT overpriced?

GOG shows me only 3 classic Larry games for the bundle for 14€ o.O
Is it available in your country or removed GOG these other games?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually it's only 8,50 euro even for Larry 1-6, 12 euro is with 7 and Magna and i think that's the 3 you are mentioning. That's still also 10 euro cheaper then on steam alltogether.

https://www.gog.com/game/leisure_suit_larry They sell the 6 games as 1 item.

I got it from Tremorgames some years ago, when they still did GOG games.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, that what I meant. I got all Larry games about 5€ at sale GOG had.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Without a sale, if you want the whole bunch it'll cost $22 on GOG and $24 on Steam, not that big a difference

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

For me it's 18,50 euro (14 with sale now) on GOG, and 23,70 euro on steam, 5,20 euro difference for me is big.

There can be regional price differences, or you count them seperately on GOG, i don't know.

same here, you get only 4 Larry games in the Bundle on GOG. And i can't find the other ones on GOG.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No for me that bundle on GOG holds all Larry games, they never made a Larry 4, you won't find it on steam, you won't find it anywhere. And GOG won't just take 1 Larry out for some people, i think you are confused.
Both Steam and GOG have the same Larry's and both only missing Box Ofiice Bust.

In the screenshot above, you can see a screenshots from larry 3 and 6.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You can read it at GOG store page:
"Includes Leisure Suit Larry 1-6 (LSL 6 is in VGA and SVGA), the VGA remake of Leisure Suit Larry 1, and Softporn Adventure. The (in)famous missing floppies containing Leisure Suit Larry 4 are still missing. No, we are not hiding them, either."
So 1-6 Larry games at steam - 21,95$, at GOG - 9,99$.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The Steam bundle includes Magna Com Laude and Love for Sail, which are not part of the GOG bundle and needs to be purchased separately, for $6 each, bringing the cost to $22

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I was referring the price about 1-6 games, but all old Larry games at steam are 33,93$, GOG have same games at 21,97$.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And you can't buy Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded at steam anymore, at GOG you can.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you buy the bundle, it's 30% off, so $24

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Okay, if you do buy all of them, then it will not be so bad, but just picking up few or just 1-6, then it is way overpriced.

that I agree with. But GOG doesn't even give an option for picking up just one game. still, can't imagine why anyone would want just one game

Shame the LSLs weren't better integrated with Steam for all the hawt features (seems they're effectively the same as the GOG versions) but I guess that's why they're bundled :)

Great price on 'em all in the bundle though, and in a group buy it's a no-brainer. I just envision myself buying the remastered versions in the future, if they ever happen.

On steam alot of times with old games they actually use the GOG version.

I rather had it in my library as a Larry collection like the other Quest games, but that's a small thing.

Now if only they were remade, too bad they stopped with Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded. These retro adventure games lost a great deal of their appeal to me, games evolved quite a lot and it wouldn't hurt to see such titles updated to modern standards. Classic adventures games such as Day of The Tentacle, Grim Fandango, Full Throttle and the Monkey Island games all had very well made and faithful remasters.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

remaking games cost more money. I'm sure that if Reloaded had sold better, someone would have remade the rest of the series.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, the whole Point-and-Click genre nearly died before a revival, a couple of years ago, largely due to some very good games made by independent studios. But the days when point and click adventure games were among the most popular genres on PC are gone long time ago, even excellent games in the genre fail to rack in millions of dollars, unless it's a very popular license like some Telltale games.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Telltale isn't pnc or adventure to me.. it's just walking simulator, sometimes with a small on rails shooting section. Well, since stuff like Hector, Puzzle Agent, Sam & Max and Bone. I was an early supporter buying the first two Bone game episodes.. and hating Telltale ever since as they wasted their opportunity with the IP and let the license slip. Now it is back to Warner Bros for a movie (finally, maybe for real this time) .. maybe they'll bother to buy it again when/after the movie comes out to finish the bloody series. I don't expect it though. Gah. Ended up like A Vampyre Story - promise of episodes and end up only getting the first 1 (or 2). The worst thing about Vampyre Story was that it claimed 'go to Paris' as part of the game.. but that was in a future (never released) episode lol.

You said discussion pages, Larry 2 is a review, but i only checked for the first 6 games.
I tried Larry 2 and it has some black borders, but it's not that tiny, but if you got a very big monitor yeah it might look small maybe, but considering the age of the game and what resolution it was designed for back then, it's not totally weird.
Still you can go to the install folder, change the Scummvm settings to 2x/full screen/keep aspect ratio, and then just load through the client and it will use those settings, and you will have no more black borders, so the bad review is nonsense.

But as i said usual it's stuff that can be tweaked and posted by computer illeterate people or just don't bother to look further into it.
I am asuming with the mouse issue it's the same that was with Maniac Mansion and updating his Scummvm (Larry 1 atleast uses v1.7 which is old) would fix it just as it would with Maniac Mansion.
I dunno why they don't just put Scummvm v2.0 in there in the first place, they put them on steam in december so v1.9 would have been available at that time.
As a matter of fact support should be better for Larry 6 and 7 with v2.0.

Sidenote, when you install Larry 6, they somehow call the folder Larry 1 (Vga) and Dosbox would have been better, as they did with the other Quest games. So it's a bit sloppy here and there and might take 2 minutes for some tweaking but in the end they work fine.

I contacted them before on facebook, i will do again to ask if they can update the games to use v2.0 and automatically set the games to full screen/keep aspect ratio/2x.

[Edit] Seems the issue with Larry 6 might be fixed as it is removed, the guy left me a notification but i am not getting since he removed his message.

[Edit2] After a week they never responded, to my facebook reply, they might not care that much.
