it works after doing it a bunch of times and will randomly kick me out. its a major nuisance.
steam still tells me when im getting messaged by friends so its connected, but its only up in the top notification bar until i can finally log back in.
steam support just keeps telling me its on my end...the fuck it is.....tons of people with the same problem

Yeah same with me and notifications. The only notifications I get are old ones (the UI is obsessed with a gift I received back in November and those two cards I never got from the summer sale) but chat notifications are nowhere to be found and all my subs have gone silent as well.
And Steam support threw in the towel like I'm the only one with notifications issues.

This seems like an old UI issue than Win 7 issue. Since Valve don't support the old one anymore it will have issues. Though I assume new UI also would have issues since it's basically Chromium and Chromium doesn't have Win 7 support for a while too. I guess you need to look for an actual solution rather than not updating. I know it can be hard to move out from you comfort zone but sometimes you have no choices left.
I'm not saying update your Windows though, that would be the last thing I would say but you need an alternative way that's for sure.

I never use the UI for navigating the site, it's awful and retardly lacking functions. Always web for store and community browsing. Even market is better and easier and faster in web.

New UI even ate 2 event cards for me. I had to resort to using my good old web browser to actually get my cards from the discovery queue instead of just being told I was getting them. Took me two days to figure out my cards were not added to the inventory. Ugh.

This, it's trash. Volvo becomes worse and worse with each ""update"" no one asked for, I used to talk to all friends on steam but we all moved to discord years ago when their garbage started to devour more resources to run than half the games I had (what happened to 'lightweight chat client and store' motto?). And now it's 50x worse than what I thought was already terrible junk, why do I need to login separately to every single damn function and why their "client" is so shit it works 10x better in Firefox when it should be the exact opposite way around?

the last steam library overhaul had an insane bug since it came out until the new one fixed it.
the blank unusable steam library
where you could not use any of your steam games until you fully logged off and back on
store pages worked fine
ive had this happen to me over +3000 times. sometimes i would relog on 7 or 8 times a day
reported it a bunch of time over the years and got the same bs copy and pasted reply every time
they never fixed it

I'd consider the chance that the "let's not use the new UI, but force the old one back" method also messes with the store, as this layout is used at least since a year during sales, and it worked back then.

Chances are at the end of the event they'll provide a pack you can buy that has all of them on the points shop, like they did with the winter event.
Imo they aren't that important and the badge we get is an absolute joke unless you wanna go to like level 49 000 or something lmao. Like they couldn't find a sun, a crowbar, a valve logo, something. It had to be a super pixelated ac unit or a pipe in the ugliest color tones possible. This has to be the worst badge they ever released for a summer sale.

You should probably use your regular web browser to get the cards and stickers during the sale instead of Steam's horrible built-in browser from the client. Internet Explorer felt like peak technology when you compare it to that and Valve probably doesn't care enough about Win 7 anymore to get it working correctly on it (and it's not like it's working great on Win 10 either).
