Hello. I got asked by a trader to provide proof of purchase for a humble gift link. They wanted a screenshot of the bill with the game name. I've never been asked this before and thought it was pretty odd. I feel it's a very unwise thing to do. I assume they mean the receipt, which includes order id, last 4 on the credit card, a # with numbers after.

What are your thoughts about this? Is it really safe to provide this information?

Not sure if I want to provide the information in that case. I can't say I trust G2A and such. Annoying since they said they wanted the proof a few days after the trade was done.

Wait... AFTER the trade?

That seems unreasonable. At this point it's you doing them a favor, so what you do and if you do anything should be on your terms. If you're not comfortable, then you really shouldn't feel obliged.

Yeah, I'm going to ask if they are okay with info blacked out or just the order confirmation. Otherwise I will deny it.

As per the speculation here for the reason why, I'd like to point out that reselling is most likely against Humble's terms of service. I don't know about you but if there is any reason to suspect that the key might end up being resold then I wouldn't want a key that came from my account associated with that.

I'd assume that they just want to be sure you actually bought it and would be satisfied with the confirmation email?

They repeatedly said bill, so I'm not sure.

Couldn't you just blackout any sensitive information?

I would tell him if he doesn't believes i got it in a legit way, he shouldn't trade with me at the beginning, and done.
I wouldn't provide it myself.
In all my Trades i did nor i or the one i traded with, asked for something like that.

I agree wholeheartedly. I haven't traded in a long time but I had done over 100 trades and no one ever asked for such a thing.

He probably wants to resell it on a site that asks for proof of purchase, so it's probably safe, but, to be honest, it's not safe to give your private information to any random person. :/

He wants to resell it on G2A or similar. It's going for about $10 more than he gave you for it on there.
