The game was good. I feel the series gradually tended downhill from the first one to the third, but they were all solid to play. However, the ending was absolutely woeful, there are numerous reasons why this was the case that have been well documented elsewhere so I won't go into it here. It was horrendously poor story-writing for a game with such a massive budget and there really is no excuse to end one of the biggest video game series of the last few years on such a sour note.

I enjoyed it. The campaign was fun with many nice set piece moments. I found the original ending to be adequate and the enhanced ending smoothed it out to be a bit more solid. I played a bunch of the multiplayer and could see doing it some more if the mood strikes me. overall I'd say it was a good experience and I got my money's worth

I absolutely loved the game. I'm one of those rare people who actually appreciated Bioware's courage to make a bold statement like that. It's a tough pill for some to swallow in this day and age where many feel like they have so many choices in their life, and so much control over their own destiny, to find out that ultimately we all end up in the same place, dead and alone.

I loved it.
Honestly each one was great, all had high points.

I totally loved the game but the ending was definitely meh. Not because of the lack of impact the choices you made ended up having (detrimental as this was), but because of it being an obvious rip-off of the (also controversial) reimagined Battlestar Galactica finale, introducing at the last moment themes that were central to the show (-SPOILER ALERT- conflict between synthetics and organics resolved by hybridization, the Galactica/Normandy finding a new "Earth" to live in by chance) but nowhere near the core of the Mass Effect premises. It's certainly not that the ending was the first "hommage" they paid to that show (among others), but all the previous cases fit perfectly in the narrative and this one felt really forced to me.

I enjoyed it immensely until the ending. It was terrible to watch a series I had dumped easily over 100 hrs into end with such a god awful ending.

I loved ME3. My only complaints were not being able to get it on steam, have the first 2 on there and it hurts my ocd to not have the whole trilogy on steam. The ending was kinda meh, wasn't as bad as most people make it out to be but it really didn't live up to how great the rest of the trilogy was.
But seeing this thread makes me want to play it again, haven't touched it since i beat it about a week after it came out.

It's the first two games with better third person mechanics and slightly less good story than ME2, but it's still a BioWare story, so it's still one of the best in video games.

Yay, someone I agree with! Mass Effect 3 was my favourite out of the three, tbh.

ME3 was a great game, but it certainly was a step back after ME2, and since it's the end of the Shepard era, it's kinda sad, that they couldn't top ME2.
AND
the multiplayer could have been easily one of the best "non CoD" type shooter that has replayability, and active community, but the garbage peer-to-peer connection, and the lack of reconnect to a game system, with the random no reason crashes, and connection losses made it a real pain.
Final word: Good game, but turned into a typical EA game. With some extra development could have been an all-time best game.

I haven't played ME1, but what I got, from reviews and comments, ME2 is basically improved ME1 and it's not like you're really lost when you start. I enjoyed ME2, fun shooter, yes maybe you're basically on rails, but it's still fun.
Now for ME3, it was on sale a few weeks ago so I finally bought it. I'm still playing through and while I am enjoying it, there's some silly things they added that are very annoying:
Also, sidequests, since the reapers chase you after you scan, you are really limited to how much you can search between missions, thus when there was an unexpected Cerberus attack, some sidequests actually disappeared...WTH?! That's not even remotely fair.
Sidequests also require you to search through entire Citadel each time because 1/5 times Journal gives you bad details and direction...but a codex and another codex - that has billions of pages. Very frustrating and time wasting busy work that overshadows some interesting stories.

As stated previously, I beat the game within the week that it was released, so I experienced the
"unfixed" version first, and I thought it was perfectly fine. I've also tried the "fixed" ending, and it wasn't that much better than the original, in my opinion.

So am I the only person who thinks Mass Effect 3 is actually a really good game? I know it's heresy, but I didn't even think the ending was that bad. It wasn't spectacular, but I found it to be satisfactory.
By the way, I respect everyone's opinion, but please try to keep the ME3 bashing to a minimum. I'm well aware of how rabidly despised it is among the passionate.
