I actually managed to get through the game somehow without being seriously set back due to bad stats. I think I died maybe twice before the ending, and those were from choices that I was pretty sure would lead to death anyways.

"Long Live the Queen is what is referred to as the Dark Souls of text-based adventure games"
Referred to by whom? That implies that LLtQ takes any kind of skill, rather than just having skill X leveled enough to survive fixed event Y.
It's a fun game for one playthough, but if you play it more than once its flaws become glaringly obvious. Most skills are almost entirely worthless and with a bit of foreknowledge you can finish the entire game just boosting two or three skills as high as possible. And since all events are fixed, knowing what skills to level is the only kind of challenge the game offers.
Oh well, maybe other people will enjoy it more than I did. Good luck to everyone.

A number of steam reviews after release said this, it clicked to me who has over 2k hours in Dark Souls. So yeah.

The only similarity I see is that you're unlikely to finish the game without dying. Might as well say it's like Hotline Miami at that point.
Except unlike those games you can prevent dying in LLtQ simply by knowing what skills to level.

In Hotline Miami, you can fail a hundred times and drift into madness, accidentally beating a level by wildly swinging a katana. Dark Souls requires preparation. That's why no one in Dark Souls builds resistance.

You can still beat Dark Souls while leveling Resistance though. Hell, people have beaten Dark Souls not leveling anything at all. Try beating LLtQ while leveling nothing but Animal Handling > Falcons.
I mean if you enjoy the game that's cool, but it really isn't the slightest bit like Dark Souls.

I think I got most of the correct skills the first game around. Game with lots of death? I knew there would be backstabbing and so forth, so I spent the first couple of days just boosting up court manners. When I started failing history checks, I started boosting that too. Looks like I made the right choices - although it also meant I completely forgoed anything dealing with magic and warfare :P

I love the fuck out of this game. It's simple, it's fun.

i liked it for the first two playthroughs, then i realized it's actually based on luck and the memory of events in order to avoid previous deaths. Not much skill involved. However if you don't have much time to play, (i.d. you're taking a break from studying), it's quite enjoyable. Could have been better with a developed story and an actual game strategy. Oh, and the game cover is kawaii as fuck

Long Live the Queen is what is referred to as the Dark Souls of text-based adventure games. LLtQ is largely a text-based, spreadsheet, trial and error bs game whose main character attracts the Loli fanbase and forces you to play it through a number of times with a few random occurrences where if you haven't leveled up say Dog handling, you won't realize your dog is barking because it sees a giant monster (this was a created example that I did not see in the game, though I never did level up mah dawgs). It's trial and error are annoying and make your saves irrelevant seeing as you may not have 70 points into reflex to save your life and can't build enough in time. I hate this game so much.
10/10
